The ARK
Community/Family
The ARK is a not-for-profit, community-funded social service agency based on Chicago's North Side. We recognize that many members of our Chicagoland Jewish family—Jews from all walks of life—are deeply in need of help and kindness. We work with each person or family in distress to create a unique and comprehensive care plan that draws upon The ARK’s wide array of free social and medical services under one roof. Our primary goals are to stabilize our clients’ situations and assist them in achieving the highest degree of self-sufficiency possible.
The Ark Animal Rescue
Animals/Wildlife
The Ark was established in 1981, by Mrs Pauline Rice, with goats, sheep and a few dogs and cats. Over the past 27 years, Pauline, along with a dedicated band of helpers, has changed the lives of so many animals for the better. We have long-term animals who will stay with us for the rest of their lives as they cannot be rehomed for a variety of reasons and animals which are waiting for a loving home. We take in animals for adoption from private homes, other rescues and sometimes via the dog warden. We have mainly dogs and cats but also have rabbits and small furries, including ferrets from time to time as well as occasional other species.
The Ark Animal Welfare Society
Animals/Wildlife
The Ark Animal Welfare Society is a non-profit registered charity formed in Barbados in 1998. We are a multi-national group dedicated to animal rights and have associated status with The RSPCA INTERNATIONAL. Caring passionately about the welfare of animals, we rescue, rehabilitate and re-home stray and unwanted dogs in Barbados. With a no kill policy, we care for them until new homes can be found, giving them shelter and the highest standards of kennelling and veterinary care. Unfortunately we do not have the space or facilities to shelter cats but we do assist in re-homing them and finding temporary foster homes. Our organisation is run by a team of valued and dedicated volunteers. We are funded solely by donations and fundraising events.

The Aspen Institute
Community/Family
Chicago businessman Walter Paepcke (1896-1960), chairman of the Container Corporation of America, first visited Aspen, Colorado in 1945. Inspired by its great natural beauty, he envisioned it as an ideal gathering place for thinkers, leaders, artists, and musicians from all over the world to step away from their daily routines and reflect on the underlying values of society and culture. Today the Aspen Institute mission is twofold: to foster values-based leadership, encouraging individuals to reflect on the ideals and ideas that define a good society, and to provide a neutral and balanced venue for discussing and acting on critical issues. The Aspen Institute does this primarily in four ways: seminars, young-leader fellowships around the globe, policy programs and public conferences and events. The Institute is based in Washington, DC, Aspen, Colorado, and on the Wye River on Maryland's Eastern Shore and has an international network of partners.

The A-T Society is a national charity whose objective is to find a cure or treatment for A-T but it is also committed to supporting families affected by the condition as well as improving quality and length of life through our two specialist A-T clinics. We provide practical support, guidance and advocacy through a professional family support worker, support grants and access to a counsellor and specialist physiotherapist and occupational therapist and we provide information via a range of media to families affected by A-T, professionals, schools and the public.

The Australia Institute
Research/Dev
The Australia Institute is the country's most influential progressive think tank. Based in Canberra, it conducts research on a broad range of economic, social and environmental issues in order to inform public debate and bring greater accountability to the democratic process. Unprecedented levels of consumption co-exist with extreme poverty. Technology has connected humanity as never before, yet civic engagement is declining. Environmental neglect continues despite heightened ecological awareness. If genuine progress is to be achieved, conscience, equity and concern for the future must be the guiding principles of our democracy. Socially just, environmentally responsible and economically viable solutions are possible, but only if insightful questions are combined with excellent research.

The Ayn Rand Institute
Children/Education
The Ayn Rand Institute (ARI) works to introduce young people to Ayn Rand’s novels, to support scholarship and research based on her ideas, and to promote the principles of reason, rational self-interest, individual rights and laissez-faire capitalism to the widest possible audience. ARI seeks to spearhead a cultural renaissance that will reverse the anti-reason, anti-individualism, anti-freedom, anti-capitalist trends in today’s culture. The major battleground in this fight for reason and capitalism is the educational institutions—high schools and, above all, the universities, where students learn the ideas that shape their lives. Ayn Rand’s philosophy—known as Objectivism—holds that historical trends are the inescapable product of philosophy. To reverse the current political and economic trends in America and throughout the world requires a reversal of our society’s fundamental philosophy.

Back Up is for everyone affected by spinal cord injury, regardless of age, level of injury, or background. We are here for family members too. Our services include mentoring, wheelchair skills training and activity courses as well as support in getting back to work or school after an injury. All our services help to build confidence and independence.

The staff, teachers and volunteers at these programs help parents and their children learn and read together, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to thrive in all aspects of their lives. Thanks to the support of our generous donors and the excellent work of literacy providers across the United States, our Foundation has truly been able to help make a meaningful difference in countless lives.
