The Ark was established in 1981, by Mrs Pauline Rice, with goats, sheep and a few dogs and cats. Over the past 27 years, Pauline, along with a dedicated band of helpers, has changed the lives of so many animals for the better. We have long-term animals who will stay with us for the rest of their lives as they cannot be rehomed for a variety of reasons and animals which are waiting for a loving home. We take in animals for adoption from private homes, other rescues and sometimes via the dog warden. We have mainly dogs and cats but also have rabbits and small furries, including ferrets from time to time as well as occasional other species.
