Lonely Miaow

Based in NZL New Zealand
Animals/Wildlife

The Lonely Miaow Association is an incorporated non profit organization dedicated to the rescue and care of stray and abandoned cats and kittens in the greater Auckland area. Every day we receive calls about injured, starving and lonely cats and kittens. They do their best to survive in carparks, gardens, building sites or patches of bush but the suffering many of them endure is heartbreaking. They have a daily battle with dangers such as cars, dogs, disease, starvation and nasty people. Currently we have a list of hundreds of cats and colonies from most parts of Auckland, as far out as Albany, Howick, Papatoetoe and Green Bay, and we know this is just the tip of the iceberg. We care for the cats and kittens, tame and rehabilitate them, and find them a home.

Look Good Feel Better New Zealand

Based in NZL New Zealand
Community/Family

Looking good, even when cancer is diagnosed, can give patients control at a time in their lives when they need it most. Look Good Feel Better is a free service offered to women undergoing treatment for cancer. Our aim is to help restore and enhance the appearance of cancer patients both during and after treatment. We offer guidance, information and makeover expertise at special workshops throughout New Zealand. At a Look Good Feel Better workshop, we help patients face cancer with greater confidence and a renewed sense of self. We work with small, informal groups of female cancer patients to transform not just their look but their outlook as well. A workshop involves a step by step makeover session led by volunteers, and everyone who attends receives a free gift and the skills to perform a new beauty regime at home. Attendees find the atmosphere light, informal, supportive and caring.

Lort Smith Animal Hospital

Based in AUS Australia
Animals/Wildlife

The Lort Smith Animal Hospital provides high quality veterinary care at a reduced cost for the pets of people in need as well as injured, stray and abandoned pets that have no-one to care for them. We care for stray and unwanted animals in our dedicated cattery and kennels and reunite or re-home thousands of cats and dogs each year. Our most recent addition to the hospital, the wildlife and exotic pet unit, provides care and expertise and promotes interest and further education in the captive care of these special creatures. We believe that the strength of the human/animal bond inevitably means that care for the animal must include concern for the person and we work closely with other community organisations to deliver our emergency boarding services for pets of the elderly and infirm, victims of domestic violence and the homeless.
