KIDS FOR KIDS was launched in Khartoum, Sudan on 8th March 2001 - just three days after Patricia Parker MBE had returned from Darfur and seen for herself the conditions in which children were living. KIDS FOR KIDS helps children the world has forgotten, children in Darfur, Sudan, who live lives of inexcusable and unimaginable hardship. Children go to bed hungry in Darfur, and wake up hungry. Inflation in Darfur is rocketing and mothers cannot feed their children. They need urgent help if the children in villages are to survive this year. Key to our help is our Goat Loan Project - we don't just hand out goats we lend 6 goats to a family so that the children have milk, often for the first time in their lives. After 2 years they pass on 6 offspring to another family. And so on. The donation of just one goat transforms many lives.

The support we offer consists of: improving the quality of the lost time spent in dialysis; solving transport problems, and transport costs which cannot be covered by insurance (there are only four children's dialysis units in Switzerland); respite for the overworked mothers/carers of these children; mediation between parents and medical staff in individual cases; providing funds for holiday dialysis camps; making well-deserved holidays possible for children an dialysis; providing tutoring to replace neglected education because of dialysis and medical visits; and much more as well as offering many other forms of practical, psychological and therapeutic help. Through our promotions and the related press reports we have helped to sensitise the public towards a new understanding for kidney transplantation.

Research/Dev
Kids Kidney Research (previously know as the Kidney Research Aid Fund, KRAF) was set up by a group of people who had friends and family with kidney disorders. Although they were all adults with kidney disease, they decided to support paediatric kidney research since many would not have been in the position they were in had their conditions been treated in childhood. 30 years on we are still all volunteers and on average over 97% of all funds received annually go directly to the cause. We are one of the leading paediatric charities supporting kidney and urological research helping to find cures and improve remedial care. Kidney disease is debilitating at any time. When it involves babies and children, families suffer too. We support vital kidney research to explore new therapies which can potentially heal damaged kidneys and try to find the faulty genes which can run in families and cause kidney diseases.

Kids of Africa is today a Swiss-registered and a Uganda-registered charity. When we claim to be a family, we also refer to our organisation in Switzerland. Our Swiss board consists of several committed individuals who have chosen to make a lasting difference to this special organization. Our board members come from different professional backgrounds, such as medicine, architecture, banking, and others. We are also often helped by many dear friends, by volunteers and by anonymous donors to whom we owe sincere gratitude.

Kidsave gives kids who are hidden from public view in foster care and orphanages the opportunity to visit with families and build relationships. We work as a catalyst for change, training social workers, orphanage workers and volunteers to help kids find permanent families, and change practices, laws and public financing to increase permanent family care for orphans and youth in foster care. Since 1999, more than 2700 individual children have found parents and lasting connections with adults because of our programs. Thousands more orphans and children in foster care around the globe have parents and lasting connections because of our training and advocacy efforts. Kidsave is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to move older children out of orphanages and foster care and into permanent, loving families.

KidsCan Children's Cancer Research Centre was established in late 2002 to specifically support research into new and improved treatments for children with cancer. Our scientists are looking for treatments which are less damaging to the bodies of children and young adults. They aim to reduce both short and long term side effects whilst retaining the effectiveness of many current treatments. The work carried out within the KidsCan laboratories covers a range of activities from basic research into new treatments, through to applied research focused on improving the outcome of therapies currently used in the treatment of children with cancer.

The KBT improves the standard of living for children in Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya through projects aimed entirely at raising their education levels. By increasing education rates and standards, our hope is that more blind children will eventually achieve higher job placement rates and improve their ability to integrate, advocate, and achieve self-sufficiency.

Kilimanjaro Children's Project (KCP) is a grassroots organization established in June 2012 by Christine Dunn. Inspired by her volunteer trip to Tanzania, she knew there was no way she could come back to the USA and ignore the need she left behind. Shortly after her return, she founded KCP and established nonprofit 501(c)3 status under the Earth Rights Institute. Partnering with Frank Mbise in Moshi, Tanzania, the first project KCP is committed to is starting a school for orphans and vulnerable children, providing education, food and loving care where they can feel safe to just be kids!

Those who have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro know that the porters are the heart and soul of the trek. Without their hard work and strength we would not be able to fully experience the magnificence of Kilimanjaro. But the truth is porters are often impoverished Tanzanians who depend on this labor-intensive employment in order to feed themselves and their families. The Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project recognizes the value of the demanding labor these porters perform. We are committed to improve the working conditions of the Porters on Kilimanjaro, we offer educational opportunities to motivate and empower porters while raising public awareness regarding proper working conditions and treatment. We provide clients with the fundamental information necessary to choose a socially responsible climbing company.Whether you are a climber, porter, guide, or managing a tour company, the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project needs your help in ensuring fair treatment of all porters.

Kiloran was first registered as a charity in 1994. We opened the house in April 1996 to provide residential supportive breaks for all carers looking after someone at home. We offer carers a break from Monday - Saturday in our West London house, which is informal, friendly, warm and relaxed. All meals are provided. We know how difficult caring for someone can be, and how important it is for carers to spend time looking after themselves as well. When a carer has the chance for some respite, it is an ideal opportunity to come and spend some time at Kiloran. We welcome carers who are looking after a wide variety of illnesses and conditions. Sometimes we are able to welcome "carer families" who need a short break together whilst the person being cared for is in respite. We are planning to develop our services to accommodate Young Carers who possibly have caring responsibilities for parents with disabilities.

The Kinsmen Foundation, provides special needs equipment and access to medical assistance to Saskatchewan residents, groups and health foundations to improve quality of life and independence. For individuals, innovations like ceiling track systems, portable lifts and ramps, funded by the Kinsmen Telemiracle Foundation, are making it possible for people to live at home and still receive the care they need. And with equipment like specialized wheelchairs, electric scooters, vehicle conversions and communications devices, people are achieving a level of independence they didn’t think possible. Another area of Kinsmen Foundation funding is focused on institutions and health foundations to purchase specialized, new, or innovative equipment to improve health care. Funding groups that directly work with people with special needs is also an important focus the Kinsmen Foundation. Across our province, loving care homes have been established with a family atmosphere to provide comfort and care to people with special needs.

Animals/Wildlife
The Trust was established over 30 years ago and from a modest beginning the Trust has grown, setting up its own Animal Rescue Centre at Hadlow Down, near Uckfield, in East Sussex. In addition to the animal rescue and re-homing work, the Trust has become increasingly involved in wildlife rehabilitation, and operates a wildlife emergency help line. Over the years, the Rescue Centre has also become a permanent home to many animals which it is not possible or desirable to re-home: these include horses, donkeys, cats, goats, birds and small rodents.
