Friends of the Earth - Norway
Environment
Founded in 1914, Norges Naturvernforbund (Friends of the Earth- Norway) is Norway's oldest environmental and nature protection organisation. We are concerned with a wide range of issues in environmental and nature conservation, but work specifically with the areas conservation, climate change, energy and transportation. Although we have a national agenda, many environmental questions have proven to have an international or even global character. Issues concerning development, resource allocations and international cooperation are very much part of our everyday activities.

FoE Australia was founded in 1974 at a meeting on French Island in Westernport Bay, Victoria, which was then the site for a proposed nuclear reactor. FoE sees that pursuing environmental protection is inseparable from broader social concerns, and as a result uses an environmental justice perspective in its campaigning. A strong social perspective means FoE is well placed to develop alliances at the grassroots level with other organisations and communities.
