The Helderberg Nature Reserve is recognised as one of the areas in the South Western Cape which has a rich palette of indigenous flora preserved in its natural environment. During the past fifty years the Reserve has experienced changes and development which attract international and local visitors throughout the year. The Reserve has also attracted numerous hikers and walkers who have enjoyed the wide open panoramic views and indigenous vegetation on the slopes of the Helderberg. Today the Reserve boasts an Environmental Education Centre, a nursery, a tea kiosk, a popular picnic area with benches, tables and toilet facilities, a gift shop and information centre and a curator’s house.
