At HopeChest, we advocate a "community to community" partnership model. We believe that holistic, sustainable change in the poorest communities occurs when one community partners with another. There are over 147 million orphans in the world-- hard to imagine so many children without a family, without anyone to watch over them. Children's HopeChest empowers orphans to overcome abandonment, poverty, and violence by mobilizing U.S. faith-based communities to make long-term ministry investments in a community of children living overseas. These relationships provide financial, human, and spiritual resources to help orphans survive, thrive, and succeed in within their home culture.

Children's Medical Research Institute

Based in AUS Australia
Research/Dev

The Children’s Medical Research Institute conducts fundamental genetic research to understand the genes important for health and development, and the underlying causes of disease. We have four major areas of research: embryonic development and birth defects, cancer, nerve cell signalling, and gene therapy. One in 20 children suffers from some kind of chronic illness, congenital abnormality or genetic disease. By studying the key changes that occur during development we can identify when, where and how faults may occur. If small problems can be detected at this stage they could be prevented from becoming big problems, or treated to reduce their impact on our children’s quality of life.

The ministry started in November, and just one month later, by Christmas, they gave out 2,000 toys to inner-city children. The Hernandez's vision expanded into a ministry that could reach the hopeless and less loved children around the world.

We helpes erect and staff a school for our orphans and other needy children in the community after the fourth year of the project's existence. We involve our children in community-based organizations, and build homes throughout South Africa under the leadership of national pastors and missionaries to house AIDS-affected orphans not located at the Children's Resiliency project. We believe that African children should not be subjected to total Eurocentric enculturation, but that we should assimilate into each others' cultures as a part of effective ministry.
