It is also one of only eight children's hospitals in the country among the Leapfrog Group’s 2009 Top Hospitals. Children’s National has provided hope to the nation's children and their families for nealry 140 years. What started as a small hospital in the nation's capital has grown to an internationally recognized leader in pediatric medicine with world-class facilities, physicians, and researchers. In addition to being a destination for children throughout the world, Children's National also provides about $50 million in uncompensated care each year for kids whose families cannot afford to pay.
