The Living Desert

The Living Desert was established in 1970 by several trustees of the Palm Springs Desert Museum who foresaw the impact that resort development would have on their local desert ecosystem. This foresight led to an interpretive nature trail and preserve in Palm Desert. The Living Desert is a 1200 acre facility that specializes in the plants and animals found throughout the deserts of the world. Many exotic and endangered species can be seen in natural surroundings. The botanical gardens represent over 1500 species, indigenous to the arid areas of North America and Africa. A state-of-the-art wildlife hospital allows visitors to interact with the staff while procedures are being performed on animals.

The EWGA (Executive Women's Golf Association), which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, continued one longstanding tradition by making a donation to LPGA-USGA Girls Golf. The LPGA is the world’s leading professional golf organization for women. Founded in 1950, the association celebrates a diverse and storied membership with more than 1,700 members representing 29 different countries. Over the past eight years, the EWGA Foundation, through EWGA Chapters and association-wide fundraising efforts, has raised nearly $500,000 in support of LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, making the EWGA one of the largest single contributors. The Marin Humane Society

Our registry — now called the Be The Match Registry — has grown to more than 8 million donors and more than 160,000 searchable cord blood units, the largest and most racially and ethnically diverse registry of its kind in the world. Medical advances are making marrow and umbilical cord blood transplants available to more patients all the time. Since we began operations in 1987, we have facilitated more than 38,000 transplants to give patients a second chance at life. Today, we facilitate more than 4,800 transplants a year. As a leader in the field of marrow and cord blood transplantation, we work every day to connect patients, doctors, donors and researchers to the resources they need. The Mater Foundation

The Mater Foundation was established in 1985 as the official fundraising body of The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. The ME Association

The ME Association (The MEA), founded in 1976 funds and supports research and provides information and support, education and training. In this role, we benefit people with ME (myalgic encephalopathy)/CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome), professionals and all others interested in the illness. The Ramsay Research Fund is the research arm of The ME Association – the UK’s longest-established national ME/CFS charity. It is named after Dr Melvin Ramsay, an infectious diseases consultant who documented a major outbreak of the illness at London’s Royal Free Hospital in 1955. Current research projects include a scheme to set up a central ME tissue bank in a UK hospital.

The Meningitis Trust

The Meningitis Trust improves the lives of people affected by meningitis. We are the only provider of professional meningitis support and aftercare services in the UK, helping thousands of people every year. We are a source of knowledge, expertise, security and consideration for those whose lives will never be the same again; helping them to take control of their future. Meningitis can strike in an instant but its impact can last a lifetime. As many as 500,000 people living in the UK today have had either viral or bacterial meningitis at some time in their lives. Most people survive meningitis but thousands are left with debilitating after effects including deafness, blindness, limb loss, learning difficulties, memory issues and behavioural problems. The impact may also cause relationship difficulties and an enforced change of lifestyle. At the same time experience of this dreadful disease can have an impact on families, friends, work colleagues and the community in which they live. The Meningitis Trust is here to support every individual touched by meningitis and the Trust’s services and support are a lifeline to help them rebuild their lives. It also raises awareness of the signs and symptoms of meningitis and associated septicaemia.
