The Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR), a national non-profit organization based in Washington DC, is widely recognized as the thought leader in research on sex differences and is dedicated to improving women’s health through advocacy, education, and research. SWHR was founded in 1990 by a group of physicians, medical researchers and health advocates who wanted to bring attention to the myriad of diseases and conditions that affect women uniquely. SWHR advocates for greater public and private funding for women’s health research and the study of sex differences that affect the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease; encourages the appropriate inclusion of women and minorities in medical research studies; promotes the analysis of research data for sex and ethnic differences, informs women, health care providers, and policy makers about contemporary women’s health issues through media outreach and periodic briefings, conferences and special events.

We seek to co-operate in making a more just and compassionate society. We do this by sharing ourselves - who we are and what we have - with people in need on a person to person basis. Our aim is to work to develop opportunities for those most in need by respecting their dignity, sharing hope and encouraging them to take control of their own destiny. Home visitation is the cornerstone of our work. Every week around 2,500 visits are carried out throughout Northern Ireland and spiritual, financial and material assistance offered to the needy.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul offers tangible assistance to those in need on a person-to-person basis. It is this personalized involvement that makes the work of the Society unique. This aid may take the form of intervention, consultation, or often through direct dollar or in-kind service. An essential precept of the Society's work is to provide help while conscientiously maintaining the confidentiality and dignity of those who are served. The Society recognizes that it must assume, also, a role of advocacy for those who are defenseless or voiceless. Some 12 million persons are helped annually by Vincentians in the United States.

Each organisation had over 30 years experience of delivering domestic violence services and were well established as domestic violence services. We aim to provide 'excellent' services, placing those who use our residential and community based services at the heart of the organisation. Our approach is integrated and holistic. We offer safe housing in our refuges across London and also offer community based support for women living in their own homes.

Solar Cookers International (SCI) spreads solar cooking awareness and skills worldwide, particularly in areas with plentiful sunshine and diminishing sources of cooking fuel. Since its founding in 1987, SCI has enabled over 30,000 families in Africa to cook with the sun's energy, freeing women and children from the burdens of gathering firewood and carrying it for miles. Tens of thousands of individuals and organizations - from all over the world — have learned about solar cooking through SCI's excellent publications and education resources, and have benefited from SCI’s information exchange networks, research, technical support, and the SCI-sponsored, internationally recognized Internet resource for solar cooking information: the Solar Cooking Archive. Additionally, SCI helps all solar cooker promoters through advocacy efforts with governments and nongovernmental organizations, and through its consultative status with the United Nations.

Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based charity that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and the closets of people like you. The charity distributes these shoes to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class, or any other criteria. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has given away over 14 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes (currently donating one pair every 7 seconds). The shoes have been distributed to people in over 127 countries, including Kenya, Thailand, Nepal and the United States. Soles4Souls is a 501(c)(3) recognized by the IRS. The idea behind gifts of shoes is nothing new to the Soles4Souls team, as they coordinated relief efforts for the Asian Tsunami and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, netting over 1 million pairs donated for these disasters.

Thus the association's aim is to promote social and economic justice, and to combat and eradicate the social, cultural, political and economic dynamics that create and fuel discrimination, exclusion and exploitation.

At first, our action consists in providing emergency relief to the endangered populations. As soon as conditions permit, we continue our action with projects enabling the reconstruction of infrastructures. Then, if necessary, we carry out projects to revitalise agriculture or fishing, and other food security activities, in order to accompany affected populations on road back to autonomy and self-sufficiency.

We offer comprehensive health programmes combating Aids, Cholera, Malaria etc., we help hospitals development, we strengthen the management of the health system there where it's needed. We promote the continuing education and training of personnel while supporting local initiatives in health promotion and prevention. SolidarMed emphasises sustainability in its work and therefore intentionally refrains from building its own institutions. The goal is improve the performance of the local partners such that they can offer the best possible primary care at the smallest possible financial expense.

Solihull Action through Advocacy is a charity consisting of staff and volunteers who work to improve the quality of life for people with learning disabilities living in Solihull. Citizen Advocacy Solihull is our registered charity name. Solihull Action through Advocacy is a charity created in 1995 to support adults with learning disabilities living in Solihull. We are funded partly by charitable donations and partly through a service level agreement with Solihull Care Trust. We are managed by a Board of Trustees who are all volunteers. We provide a voice for adults with a learning disability in Solihull and accept referrals from any source.

The Safe OnLine Outreach Project came from street-work ashes and idealistic rain. It evolved as the next logical step to take when youth, technology and youth work converged. The work began as a one-year project to create curriculum for youth workers about online sexual exploitation in 2001/02. We move beyond condemnation and punishment and strive to understand the causes and the consequences — personal, relational and societal — of online exploitation in ways that create community understanding, accountability, healing and justice.

We provide emergency relief which ever form it might take whether it is food parcels or handing out water proof tents. To help people cope through all emergency situations. Saada as an organisation and a charity believes that any form of development can only take place once the potential of the people is truly unlocked. Saada believes in investing directly into people and the institutions that better people with the aim being to create a culture of innovation where people strive to find solutions to their own problems.
