Secours Populaire Français
Humanitarian Aid
Born in 1945, Secours populaire is a non-profit association declared to be a great National cause. In France, the SPF is particularly concerned with problems of exclusion: in the short term, through emergency aid based on food, and clothing. Emergency housing and referral to a support structure also remain at the heart of the concerns of Secours populaire. The SPF also supports individuals and families over the long term in their rights and lives: access to housing, health, holidays, culture and leisure, sport and professional integration. Secours populaire is a movement which allows everyone of goodwill to personally invest in the practice of showing solidarity.

Secret World Wildlife Rescue
Animals/Wildlife
In each year approximately 4,000 wild animals are cared for by Secret World Wildlife Rescue. Together with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, we continue to care for all manner of creatures, from the tiniest harvest mice and bats to badgers, swans, foxes, deer and of course otters. Secret World Wildlife Rescue is now the only 24/7 wildlife rescue centre in the South West, annually caring for over 4000 sick, injured and orphaned animals. The aim of our rescue and rehabilitation work is always to return the animals to the wild whenever possible, and believes in always giving an animal the best possible care. This includes the employment of trained animal carers and a commitment to provide medication, veterinary care, and time to recover as required. We are also lucky to have a team of around 400 dedicated volunteers who assist in a number of ways.

SEEDS
Community/Family
Nesakkaram-SEEDS (Street Elfins Education and Development Society) is a child-care organization in Chennai. We are working for and with the street children for over eighteen years. We provide them food and shelter, opportunities to learn and grow, opportunities to dream and the means to achieve them. Nesakkaram recognizes the fact that much of the problems which children face are dependent on their family and parents. Therefore we began to motivate the mothers and making them realise the need for their children's education and development. Thus we formed Women's Groups. Encouraged by the positive effects of reaching out to people in distress, Nesakkaram began lending a helping hand to people who were affected by natural or manmade disasters like fire, flood and earthquake. One of such major activities was in 2004 when we adopted six coastal villages traumatized by tsunami.

Self Enhancement, Inc.
Children/Education
Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI), a nonprofit organization supporting at-risk urban youth. In 29 years, SEI has grown from a 1-week summer basketball camp to a flourishing agency serving thousands of students each year in the greater Portland, Oregon area, with plans to replicate across the country. Whereas others see only statistics, we see strong individuals, tomorrow’s business owners and leaders, teachers and citizens. We help our students see themselves and their potential the same way. Then we help them find their strengths, ignite their passion and identify the plan that will move them in the direction of their dream. And we stay with them every step of the way, 24/7, 365 days a year from age eight through 25. Simply stated, we’re closing the achievement gap. In addition to 100% graduation rates, more than 85% of graduates continue on to pursue higher education or occupational training — many being the first in their families to do so. Amazing results, despite the fact that almost all the young people in our program are faced with significant social, academic and economic obstacles.
Self Help Africa
Research/Dev
Self Help Africa was formed in 2008 from a merger between two like-minded charities: UK NGO Harvest Help and Irish agency Self Help Development International. The combined skills and complimentary experiences of 25 years of learning have been pooled together to form a strong, dynamic, and forward thinking new organisation. We now have the potential to have a greater impact overseas in improving the lives and circumstances of Africa’s rural poor. Both charities were founded in mid-1980s in response to the catastrophic Ethiopian famine and the droughts that plagued many central African countries. From the outset the vision was to help people manage their own futures with confidence. Year upon year operations have extended across communities. Self Help Africa is committed to helping rural communities become self-reliant; encouraging participation of the poor at every stage of the development process.
Semper Fi Fund
Community/Family
The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit set up to provide immediate financial support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. We direct urgently needed resources to post 9-11 service members within 24–72 hours of request. Our program provides support in a variety of ways including: Service Member and Family Support, Specialized & Adaptive Equipment, Adaptive Housing, Adaptive Transportation, Education and Career Transition Assistance, PTSD and TBI Support and Team Semper Fi. Our streamlined structure keeps overhead very low – less than 6% – because we realize every dollar saved can be put to better use elsewhere. The American Institute of Philanthropy has given us an "A+" rating and Charity Navigator has given us their "Four Star" rating, the highest rating for each organization. The basic ideal that drives our efforts is simple: as much as these American heroes have sacrificed, they deserve the best care and support available in their hour of need. Injuries are often severe, and the road to recovery or rehabilitation can be long and costly. Since establishing this fund in 2004, we've issued more than 48,000 grants totaling more than $66 million to over 8,300 of our heroes and their families. Clearly, the program is working. But our challenges are actually increasing, especially due to the level of severe trauma sustained in areas like Afghanistan and Iraq.

Sensory Trust
Community/Family
Established in 1989 as a national charity, the Sensory Trust grew out of multi-disciplinary consultation whereby a wide network of disability and environmental organisations came together to identify a national role for the Sensory Trust. The Sensory Trust advises on issues, influences policy, assists professional practice, showcases good practice, organises user-testing by disabled people, provides training and education and develops design and management projects. We work with organisations in the UK and internationally to try out new ideas, share knowledge, create on-the-ground examples of best practice and evaluate the success of different techniques. The Sensory Trust considers that building social capital contributes to enhanced self reliance, collective action and collective decision-making within a community. It can therefore strengthen the capacity of a community to identify areas of interest around local opportunities and to respond to ongoing and existing development processes. Together these elements help to build sustainable and resilient rural communities.
