Founded in 1929 by Swedish immigrant newspaper publisher Swan J. Turnblad, the American Swedish Institute is a historic house, museum and cultural center located just south of downtown Minneapolis. Today, the American Swedish Institute, housed in the Turnblad mansion, is a place to learn about and experience Swedish, Swedish-American, and Nordic culture, learn about the role of Swedish and other immigrants in Minnesota’s history, and share stories and experiences.

The American Swedish Institute, a museum and cultural center of distinguished history and international reputation, exists to preserve and share the landmark 1908 Turnblad mansion, celebrate and teach about Sweden and Swedish-America; and, promote and practice the values of respect for all peoples and the environment that are exemplified in the Nordic countries.

American Textile History Museum

During its first thirty years, the Museum documented the woolen, cotton, flax and silk industries in New England and beyond through its collections of pre-industrial tools, powered industrial era machinery, flat textiles and the rich collections of its Osborne Library. The Museum supported research and publication, hosted conferences, presented exhibitions and public programming. It also developed a model program with the public schools of neighboring Lawrence, Massachusetts.
American Tinnitus Association

Tinnitus is the perception of sound in the ears or head where no external source is present. Some call it "ringing in the ears" or "head noise." ATA (American Tinnitus Association) is dedicated to finding and funding the best and brightest tinnitus researchers to speed up our progress toward finding a cure for tinnitus. It is the nation’s largest association of individual contributors that awards grants for tinnitus research. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), established in 1863, is a not-for-profit association representing more than 80,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia, and uniformed services. Structured to work for its members, the AVMA acts as a collective voice for its membership and for the profession. Among its many areas of work, the AVMA is designated by the U.S. Department of Education as the accrediting body for the 28 schools of veterinary medicine in the United States. In this capacity, the AVMA develops and maintains educational standards for these institutions to ensure the qualifications and competency of graduates of veterinary schools. The AVMA also provides a wide range information resources, continuing education opportunities, publications, and member discounts on personal and professional products, programs, and services. The AVMA publishes the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Journal of Veterinary Research.

During the past year the Board of Directors has re-focused the American-Italian Cancer Foundation's (AICF) efforts to address cancer's complex challenges, under the guidance of our world-class Scientific Advisory Board. As a result, AICF is launching a Pancreatic Cancer Research Initiative to foster innovative research and stimulate international collaboration between the United States, Italy, and other parts of Europe. We have renewed our longstanding commitment to supporting post-doctoral research fellowships for promising young scientists. In addition, the Prize for Scientific Excellence in Medicine will continue to reward outstanding cancer researchers who have substantially improved the quality of life of cancer patients and survivors by bringing what they have learned in the laboratory into the clinical setting.
