Nepal Leprosy Trust
Health/Medical
We have built and now operate the only major leprosy services centre in southeast Nepal, the area of the country with the highest prevalence of leprosy. We have been given responsibility for supervising leprosy control activities in the four districts around Lalgadh in Central Region, on behalf of the Nepal Government. NLT serves not only those affected by leprosy, but also other marginalised groups. Its early work, which began in 1972, included establishing a range of rehabilitation, income generation and financial assistance projects for people affected by leprosy, destitute women and children, and other disadvantaged people. Following 20 years of experience, the Trust established Nepal's third leprosy referral hospital at Lalgadh, in the southeast of the country. It was officially opened in 1996 and is now a major centre, offering much more than just medical diagnosis and treatment.

Nessuno Tocchi Caino
Human Rights
Human systems can make mistakes. People can be falsely accused. Innocent people have been convicted and sentenced to death. Hands Off Cain is a league of citizens and parliamentarians for the abolition of the death penalty worldwide. It was founded in Brussels in 1993. Hands off Cain stands for justice without vengeance. The death penalty is not an issue of religious belief. The Koran and the Bible should not be used to justify it and do not mark a dividing line between retentionists and abolitionists. In fact, not all Islamic countries practice capital punishment whilst a number of Christian countries do. 98% of the total executions worldwide are carried out in illiberal countries such as China, Iran and Saudi Arabia. Hands Off Cain believes the definitive solution to the death penalty problem is to be found in these countries, and more than the death penalty itself, concerns democracy, the rule of law and human rights.
Network for Africa
Humanitarian Aid
Network for Africa has projects in Rwanda, Northern Uganda and Eastern Chad. Our aim is to benefit all people in the communities where we work, regardless of race or religion. We work with small projects, started by local people responding to local needs. Partnering with the international charity, CORD, the N4A team began giving trauma counselling training to men, women and youths in Farchana and Gaga refugee camps in 2009. Thousands of men, women and children who have fled the genocide in Darfur continue to re-live their nightmares in refugee camps in Chad. Few receive any counselling or psychological support. Their suffering and grief continues, as they struggle to make sense of what has happened to them.

Neurosurgical Research Foundation
Research/Dev
Dr Trevor Dinning founded the Neurosurgical Research Foundation in 1963. The object of the Foundation is directed primarily towards research into the cause, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases or injuries or malfunctions of the brain, spine and the nervous system. Australia is well renowned as a force in neurosurgical research. Without a strong university presence, neurosurgical research in Australia will falter. Adelaide has the advantage of being well established. Clinical neurosurgical services are also predominantly located in one institution, the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH), and other neuroscientists are on campus or immediately adjacent. This concentrates experience and opens opportunities for non-academic neurosurgeons to have an involvement in research.
New 42nd Street
Arts/Culture
The New 42nd Street, Inc. is the nonprofit organization that oversees the redevelopment of seven historic theaters on 42nd Street and operates these three projects. By the early 1980s, 42nd Street and Times Square had become a neglected stretch of urban decay. New York residents and visitors avoided the area, and growing public concern compelled New York State and City to join forces to eradicate the blight. In 1990, guided by a plan to redevelop the area through the revitalization of 42nd Street’s historic theaters, the State and City of New York established the nonprofit organization now known as The New 42nd Street. The Victory, Times Square, Selwyn, Lyric, Liberty, Empire and Apollo theaters were leased by the State and City of New York to The New 42nd Street for 99 years. Our aim is to maintain secure but lively daytime and evening activity in the Theaters, reinforce the area’s role, encourage the economic self-sufficiency of the complex while contributing to the performing arts in New York.
