Crane
Children/Education
Crane (Care for the Rural Alienated and Network of Educational Society) came into existence on 24th November1998, after eight years (1992-1998) of evolution at the remote villages of kancheepuram District, in the State of Tamil Nadu, India. The daily life experience with the poor people at the remote villages was the inspiration for the origin of Crane. The poor life of the rural people. Utter poverty, employment, lack of basic amenities, over population, etc., are the realities of villages. There are about 17,273 villages that exist in Tamil Nadu alone and 80% of the total Indian Population lives in villages. Hence, the growth and development of villages alone will play a major part in contributing for the better India. In this process, each and every village has to be taken care in a very special manner, for the holistic growth and development.
Crann
Environment
Crann was formed in 1986 with the aim of "Releafing Ireland". Crann is Ireland's leading voluntary tree organisation dedicated to the promotion and protection of our trees, hedgerows and woodlands. It is a membership-based, non profit registered charity uniting people with a love of trees. Probably Crann is now best known for its quarterly high quality Crann magazine and for the numerous school visits we provide. Students around the country have been actively taking part in the CRANN Schools Tree Project. Over the years CRANN has run various tree related projects and we are very proud of our current initiative. We are lucky to have on board, the well known ecologist, Dale Treadwell who visits schools throughout the country with CRANN environmental awareness workshops. He introduces students to the animals and plants that are to be found all around them in their own gardens, fields and school grounds. Following workshops, the students join Dale in the planting of trees to enhance the school grounds. So successful is this project that in 2009 Crann has adopted the program for the various age groups, continuing with the tree/hedgerow planting in designated areas of the schools.
Crawford Fund
Research/Dev
The Crawford Fund's purpose is to encourage investment in international agricultural research (IAR) by governments and the private sector, in the belief that it is an essential, high priority, international activity. We believe that IAR holds the key to alleviating rural poverty in developing countries, and can thus open the door to economic progress. Good news is worth sharing, and the Fund’s Public Awareness Campaign increases understanding of the importance and potential of IAR, its achievements and needs. The Fund also has a training program that fills a niche by offering practical, highly focused non-degree instruction to men and women engaged in agricultural research and management in developing countries.

Crimestoppers
Community/Family
In 1985, PC Keith Blakelock was murdered during the riots at the Broadwater Farm estate in London and the police appealed for information. Michael Ashcroft (now Lord Ashcroft and Chairman of the Trustees of Crimestoppers), a businessman, offered to provide the police with money for a reward to encourage somebody to come forward with information. This led to establishment of the Crimestoppers operation in the UK in January 1988. He set up the charity and together with some business colleagues who were also concerned about the rise in violent crime, they funded the UK operation. Originally launched as the 'Community Action Trust', the charity was renamed Crimestoppers in 1995, by then covering the whole of the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Today, the charity have an anonymous 24/7 phone number, 0800 555 111, that people can call to pass on information about crime; alternatively people can send information anonymously via the website. Every day 23 people are arrested and charged as a result of information passed to Crimestoppers.
Criminon United Kingdom
Human Rights
Criminon United Kingdom provides crime prevention and rehabilitation programmes to people in need. It also delivers drug rehabilitation programmes to offenders. It is a registered charity and the programmes are available to anyone regardless of race, religion, sex, age, disability or offence committed. Criminon organisations worldwide provide the programme using courses that address some of the key factors that are known to cause criminality; such as lack of self respect, illiteracy and a lack of moral values. Criminon UK runs courses in prison using a distance learning format. The advantage of this format is that the inmates move at their own pace through each course with their instructor. This also benefits inmates in fairly inaccessible prisons and problems of short-term stay in local prisons is solved, as the course materials travel with them. We can also deliver courses in the "classroom" - in prisons, probation and community settings.

We are determined campaigners, working to prevent people from becoming homeless and advocating solutions informed by research and our direct experience. But we take a lead, collaborate with others and, together, make change happen

Crossroads
Community/Family
Crossroads Foundation is a Hong Kong based, non-profit organisation serving global need. We believe that, in a broken world that sees too much suffering, we should do all we can to link those who are in need with those who can help. Rather than trying to start a charity, we resolved to come alongside existing ones and support them through our areas of training: chartered accountancy and public relations. We seek to serve and support the welfare organisations that are working hard to meet need at the local level. Many such grass-roots organisations lack the funding and international infrastructure they need to do their job. Our goal is to help them fulfill their goal.
