We believe that poverty is mostly caused by human factors and systems that keep local people poor especially by depriving them of what is rightfully theirs. We also believe that if given the opportunity and necessary support local people can rise out of poverty and live a life of dignity. Also in our work with communities we recognize that communities are made up of people and their neighbourhoods. And communities cannot be developed if either of the two is neglected. Thus focus is on neighbourhood development and people development(empowerment) with women and youths as our target groups. We also work with special groups (communities), like associations, pressure groups, trade unions, e.t.c to assist them to re focus and strengthen their organization for improved service delivery.

We are Action Medical Research, for children, for life - the leading UK-wide medical research charity dedicated to helping babies and children. We know that medical research can save and change children’s lives. We find and fund the very best medical research in hospitals and universities across the UK that is most likely to deliver real benefit to babies, children and young people. Since its founding in 1952, the charity has developed an extraordinary track record in supporting some of the most significant medical breakthroughs in recent history – breakthroughs that have helped save thousands of children’s lives and changed many more. We have helped more babies be born healthy by introducing ultrasound scanning in pregnancy, discovering the importance of taking folic acid before and during pregnancy to prevent spina bifida. We have also funded research for developing an infra-red scanner to help minimise the risk of brain damage in babies and developed a new state-of-the-art fetal heart rate monitor to make pregnancy safer for babies at risk. Although the research we have funded has helped save and change so many children’s lives, there is still so much more to learn about what triggers diseases, how to prevent them and how to develop effective new treatments and find the best ways to care for sick babies and children.

Action MS is a 'home grown' charity that has been working in Northern Ireland since 1976. It all began when a small group of Belfast folk with MS, led by Ann Walker, decided to fight back and do something about beating this most distressing disease. Nowdays Action MS, as well as maintaining a highly successful fund-raising programme, provides a comprehensive range of caring 'actions' or support that has evolved over the years out of conversations with people and families living with MS. The provision of the right kind of care at the right time in the right place is our constant goal.

Poverty affects everyone, either directly or indirectly. Action Nouvelle Vie strives to make a difference, day after day, for families and individuals in need. Our desire is to not only meet their immediate needs, but essentially offer them the tools they need to become independent and fulfilled. Not everyone can work for a charitable organization, but everyone has the power to contribute their time, money or material resources. We aim to meet the essential needs while focusing on training and social reintegration, in partnership with various stakeholders who are also working within the area in which we serve.

Action Volunteer Alliance is a Canadian based Not-For-Profit Incorporation. We offer affordable volunteer experiences in Nepal. Our global volunteering programs are: working in an Orphanage to help care for under privileged children, teaching English in schools to a variety of ages, working in a health post in rural areas where most of the staff have little to no medical training, helping to clean up some of the worlds most beautiful land or working on different building projects which may be anything from repairing schools to building new homes. Each of these community service projects will help make a diffrence overseas to the lives of children and families. Action Volunteer Alliance is making a difference in the world by getting more people involved in volunteerism work and by setting you up with the tools you need to be successful in what you have to give.
