Action on Armed Violence - AOAV

| Humanitarian Aid
Action on Armed Violence (formerly 'Landmine Action') is a UK-based charitable organisation working to reduce the incidence of armed violence and its impact on vulnerable populations around the world. AOAV has a successful track record in developing international law, global civil society networks, and local programmes for weapons' control, armed violence reduction, and civilian protection. AOAV works locally, nationally, regionally and globally to reduce – and ultimately prevent – armed violence. We work with communities affected by armed violence, removing the threat of weapons, reducing the risks that provoke violence and conflict, and supporting the recovery of victims and survivors. We work with civil society partners and with governments, to strengthen international laws and norms on the availability and use of conventional weapons, to build recognition of the rights of victims and survivors of armed violence, and to research, understand and act effectively on the root causes of armed violence in affected countries. Armed violence kills over 2000 people every day. This number can be reduced. Support us in making a difference to the lives of people at risk.
