BLACK GIRLS ROCK!
Women
BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Inc. is 501(c)3 non-profit youth empowerment and mentoring organization established to promote the arts for young women of color, as well as to encourage dialogue and analysis of the ways women of color are portrayed in the media. Since 2006, BLACK GIRLS ROCK! has been dedicated to the healthy development of young women and girls. BLACK GIRLS ROCK! seeks to build the self-esteem and self-worth of young women of color by changing their outlook on life, broadening their horizons, and helping them to empower themselves. Since 2006, we have enjoyed the opportunity to enrich the lives of girls aged 12 to 17 years old through mentorship, arts education, cultural exploration and public service. At BLACK GIRLS ROCK!, young women are offered access to enrichment programs and opportunities that place special emphasis on personal development through the arts and cooperative learning. By speaking to the next generation in their formative years about issues of self-worth, goals, and aspirations, the organization reinforces the message that young women need not objectify themselves or relinquish their autonomy. BLACK GIRLS ROCK! has boldly taken on the crisis of our female youth of color here in America head on and understands the need for positive self-images and a strong sense of awareness. WE SEE SOLUTIONS.

Blessings in a Backpack
Children/Education
Blessings in a Backpack is a unique results-oriented program designed to feed elementary school children who may not have any or enough food on the weekends. Blessings was founded in the U.S. by Stan Curtis (of USA Harvest) and Hilary Duff. They recognize that underprivileged children who are fed through government programs at school during the week, have no food to eat at home on the weekends. So, Blessings arranges to have backpacks filled with food for the kids to take home on Friday evening. Then the kids bring the empty packs back on Monday morning, to be filled again for the next coming Friday. Better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behaviour, improved health and increased attendance have all been attributed to the success of this program.

Research/Dev
We're a group of passionate people who have been inspired by our friends in Africa, friends who face unbearable challenges from the HIV/AIDS and water crises. We creatively and thoughtfully raise awareness and the necessary funds for the provision of clean blood and clean water in sub-Saharan Africa. Founded by the multi-platinum, GRAMMY Award-winning band, Jars of Clay, Blood:Water Mission began as a call to personalize the HIV/AIDS crisis in Africa. The results of our efforts paint a new picture in these communities. Village leaders have the resources and training to bring clean water, sanitation and healthcare into their communities. Stomach aches, skin diseases and diarrhea have disappeared. Women and children no longer walk several miles a day to carry filthy water. Those with HIV are living longer, stronger lives.

The BLUE WAVE Movement is about increasing awareness, finding solutions, fostering hope and ending the stigma. The long-term goal of the Foundation is to see BLUE WAVE Centers established in major regional centres where young people in need can go for help and support. We direct people to the professional people or organizations who can provide help and assistance. BLUE WAVE days have been formulated to meet the needs of young people in a language that is acceptable to them – thus working toward removal of the stigma and shame attached to such presently used language as: mental illness, chronic depression, "committing" suicide, etc.
