The Netanya Foundation

The Netanya Foundation initiates, manages and operates cultural facilities, community services, social, health, education, sports, science, religion, charity and welfare programs. The Netanya Foundation was established in 1989 in order to improve the quality of life of the city's residents. From the late 1980s and to this day, Netanya has absorbed over 65,000 immigrants from the Former Soviet Union , Ethiopia and other countries worldwide. Welcoming immigration with open arms, the city needed to face the challenges of integration. Creating a united community from multiple nationalities is always a challenge. However, when dealing with poorer populations and with virtually no financial support, the barriers loom even higher.

The Nurture Foundation

Established in 1992, Nurture is a charity which supports research into reproductive health. Our world-class research centre is located within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of The University of Auckland where a team of scientists and researchers is dedicated to finding causes, preventions and treatments for reproductive disorders. Through research we aim to find new ways to predict and prevent reproductive problems, and improve treatments for couples unable to conceive or carry a child safely to term. The safe delivery of a healthy, full-term baby is the goal of our research.

The Oak & Furrows Wildlife Rescue Centre

The centre became a registered charity in 2006 and along with charity status came an increase in calls. Then in the autumn of 2007 Gloucestershire Wildlife Rescue Centre closed followed in 2008 by the closure of Cotswold Animal and Wild Bird Rescue. As a result the Oak and Furrows has had to expand and develop the centre in order to cope with demand. Annually the centre takes in approximately 3,000 wildlife casualties and receives between 6 and 7,000 telephone calls for help and advice, all this acheived by a dedicated team of people comprising of staff, volunteers, members and supporters, without whom it would not be possible. Oak and Furrows operate a 24 hour Wildlife Rescue Service, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. Running costs are increasing, at the moment the average monthly cost is £5,800; that is almost £200 per day, the centre relies on donations to survive and does not recieve any government funding.

The Oesophageal Cancer Fund (OCF) is a registered charity which was set up in 2001 by friends of Lucilla Hyland to raise awareness of the symptoms of oesophageal cancer and to provide money for research so as to improve the journey and outcomes for people with oesophageal cancer and their families. As a group we strive to further the public awareness and understanding of this disease. Many patients are diagnosed late when the disease is advanced. We hope that through continued public education we will all recognize the significance of difficulty in swallowing just as we all have become aware of the sinister nature of a breast lump or of a mole which changes in colour.
