The Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust (HART)
Humanitarian Aid
The Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust (HART) supports the forgotten people of Europe, Africa and Asia: the oppressed and the persecuted, and often those who are neglected by other organisations, largely out of sight of the world’s media. HART believes that in order to truly meet the needs and requirements of the persecuted, oppressed and overlooked; the direction and management of aid must primarily involve the local people it wishes to help. Its aid is designed to relieve suffering and sow the seeds of longer-term solutions; its advocacy is designed to raise awareness of problems and solutions, at home and abroad. The oppressed and persecuted are much more than just statistics; they are real people with individual faces, voices, hopes and dreams. No one should be forgotten.

The Hunger Project
Research/Dev
The Hunger Project believes the human spirit is wonderfully creative, we believe people have the ability and the desire to be self-reliant. Our goal is to end world hunger. Our methods are different from most organisations in that first we address the attitudes and then, only after that mindset has changed, do we begin action through skill building and tangible projects. This model of empowerment allows us to be more efficient. We focus on women as change-agents. Women are disproportionately impoverished, yet they carry a large part of the burden of work and raising the children. Many studies verify that women do the most to improve health, nutrition and education when given the opportunity.

The Institute of Bone and Joint Research was established in 1999 to provide an Institute devoted to advancing our understanding of the disorders and diseases of the musculoskeletal system, their diagnosis and treatments. We understand the pathophysiology of bone, cartilage and tendon failure in musculoskeletal disorders and devise new approaches for their repair and regeneration. We identify the factors (inherited, occupational, hormonal, etc.) which contribute to the morbidity of bone and joint disease in the Australian community. Apart from supporting research activities in the above areas, the Institute also disseminates recent advances in our understanding of the musculoskeletal sciences by organising regular public seminars and scientific symposia at which leading specialists present their latest research findings.

The International Montessori School
Children/Education
"The International Montessori School" has come a long way since it was established back in 1983. Originally founded as by Merrill Harrison graduate with Montessori Distinction, from the Montessori Center International, London, UK and she has grown and expanded beyond anyone's expectations in the last 26 years. We are very proud of the progress we have made and the things we have accomplished in that relatively short time. For instance, we now offer 3 Classrooms ages from 2 to 6 ; we have graduated more than 8’000 children; and, on average, our newly graduated students have excelled in many areas and have today the best incomes. They all remember our school as the happiest in their life. We would like to continue this pursuit of excellence by becoming a Montessori School 2010. To do so, we have been working closely with bankers, multi-national companies and with other institutions. By becoming a larger Montessori School, we will be able to offer an even better educational experience to our students. And the larger community will benefit as well, as they will be able to take more classes for continuing education and will have the opportunity enjoy more facilities. In order to achieve this objective, we are hoping for the generous financial support of the greater community.

Once the Association becomes self-financing, we envisage to support other associations devoted to raising the standards of living of their communities. The Kanga Project promotes, for the benefit of the public, sustainable development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. We work towards the relief of sickness and the preservation of health among people residing permanently or temporarily in Africa, in particular but not exclusively by the provision of water sanitation, health care and such other assistance as the trustees may from time to time determine.
The Karen Cornelia Trust
Community/Family
On November 6th 2003 Karen Van Dillen lost her fight with cancer, aged 44. Spending quality time with family, talking, sharing, walking on the beach and watching the sunset, away from all the daily pressures was one of Karen’s most treasured memories. In Karen’s memory “The Karen Cornelia Trust” has been established with the vision of supporting families with cancer by providing positive and unique experiences to enhance their appreciation and enjoyment of life. The idea of having a bach by the sea would give many families the opportunity to have a special holiday on an ongoing basis and following inspired discussion it was decided to form The Karen Cornelia Trust - a Charitable Trust in Karen’s memory to achieve this outcome and thus the “A House for Karen” project was initiated.
