Animal Health Trust
Animals/Wildlife
The Animal Health Trust is an animal welfare charity that has been helping dogs, cats and horses for more than half a century providing specialist veterinary clinical, diagnostic and surgical services. Despite popular belief, disease and injury are the most common threats to animal welfare, and we exist to reduce and prevent any unnecessary suffering. The AHT has two animal clinics; one for dogs and cats, the other for horses. We are a veterinary referral centre, meaning that cases which are too complex to be treated by your local vet get referred to our world-class vets. We have a number of different units, each specialising in a particular area of veterinary expertise. Be it eyes, ears, noses and tails or anything in between, we're sure to have a clinician who can help.

Animal Lifeline
Animals/Wildlife
We are a non-profit, all volunteer organization, dedicated to rescuing and re-homing small domestic animals. We work closely and assist the RSPCA from all over the counties. We were founded in 1976 and over the years have re-homed thousands of animals ranging from a horse down to a mouse. If necessary animals stay with us for many months until a suitable home can be found and we never have healthy animals destroyed. We always have many rabbits, guinea pigs and cats looking for good homes and we aim to find them a safe and secure environment for the remainder of their lives.
Animal Place
Animals/Wildlife
Founded in 1989, Animal Place fills a much-needed niche of farm animal rescue, sanctuary and adoption with its two facilities. Animals arrive from myriad sources – factory farms, slaughterhouses, research facilities, and neglect or cruelty cases. All animals find a haven where all their needs are met and their individual quirks respected. In addition to providing sanctuary farmed animals, Animal Place serves as an education and advocacy center. We offer tours, cooking classes and workshops at the sanctuary as well as volunteer and internship opportunities. Because factory farming takes the lives of 10 billion land animals each year in the United States, we promote a vegan, cruelty-free lifestyle.
Animal Protection Agency (APA)
Animals/Wildlife
The Animal Protection Agency (APA) is the UK organisation committed to ceasing the trade in wildlife for pets. Perhaps unbelievably, it is still legal in Britain to sell wild animals captured from other countries. The majority of wild-trapped animals die from the stress and disease that is associated with every stage of their harrowing journey. Next to habitat destruction, collection of animals for the pet trade is the main reason for the decline in many species. Attempts to regulate and control the trade have globally failed. The problem is getting worse, and time is running out! A large part of the work of APA is to lobby for improved legislation to protect animal welfare. We oppose the activities of individuals or companies involved in the trade in wild animals as pets and we expose the wasteful practices and consequences of the wildlife trade. By working alongside government agencies and local authorities, and by building public support and awareness, APA seeks to end the cruel confinement of wild animals as pets.
Animal Rescue
Animals/Wildlife
Animal Rescue was born (in Cape Town, South Africa). It was, and to some extent still is, dangerous to venture into township communities, but threats aside the then Voluntary Animal Rescue teams got cracking. With the aid of many private vets and the wonderful PDSA, Voluntary Animal Rescue was able to help thousands of desperate animals. Most dogs were covered in mange, whereas today, our Mobile Clinic staff maintains regular clinics to which communities can bring their dogs to be dipped.
Animal Rescue
Animals/Wildlife
Animal Rescue was founded in 1976, by Grace Froelich as a result of being given the alternative to either give up her beloved cat or face eviction. Grace's philosophy is that an animal is a companion pet that is a member of the family, and deserves the same respect and considerations. Animal Rescue also promotes spay/neuter programs (we also run our own low cost program for those in need), and operates a Crisis Intervention Program which keeps the human/animal bond intact by providing assistance to the elderly, sick, and the infirm.
Animal Rescue and Care (ARC)
Animals/Wildlife
We are based in the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames, and we operate in the general areas of Surrey, Middlesex and parts of SW London, although we occasionally rehome animals further afield. At ARC our priority is to rescue, foster, re-home and assist all types of animals, while also offering advice, information and raising public awareness about animal welfare. All the animals that come in to ARC are looked after in private foster homes by loving experienced carers. They receive plenty of 'TLC' and any veterinary care that they require, including neutering. ARC does not put animals to sleep unless they are suffering or their quality of life is clearly unsatisfactory. As a small charity with limited resources, we cannot offer long term sanctuary but we do work very hard to find the ideal homes for all our animals. We are always looking for new foster homes and help with fundraising.
Animal Rescue Charity
Animals/Wildlife
The animal rescue charity was founded in 1990 by mother and daughter Jan Rose and Fiona Piggott after taking in strays from the local police dog pound. News travelled fast and soon waifs and strays where being left on their doorstep. Desperate funding and a more suitable home for these animals initiated the creation of the Charity, now affectionately known as “the small charity with a big heart” . Our aims and objectives are to provide a safe haven (sanctuary) for neglected, unwanted and abandoned animals and wherever possible to treat and re-habilitate all animals including wildlife; sanctuary as we see it being a place of protection; a refuge. The Animal Rescue Charity is made up of a dedicated team, without whom, we wouldn’t be able to function. Our team is made up of both volunteers and staff, who work tirelessly to ensure all our animals are given the best care possible.

Animal Samaritans
Animals/Wildlife
Animal Samaritans are a UK Registered Charity that were formed in 1985 by a group of pensioners when a branch of a national animal charity closed down. It currently operates in south-east London and north-west Kent, providing re-homing of unwanted and ill-treated animals in these regions, and has approximately 1000 members. The Charity has a number of members who foster animals in their own homes, which are cared for until a suitable, permanent home can be found where they can receive the love and care that they so rightly deserve. All prospective homes are subject to a home check and then a follow up visit is always made to check on the animals progress. We also help to look after many stray and feral cats in the area. Arrangements are also made for animals to be spayed or neutered to help control the population of unwanted pets. The Charity operates a non-destruction policy and offer Pet Bereavement Scheme. This is a telephone service where bereaved pet owners can find help, support and a sympathetic ear.
