Since it was established in 1986, Suzy Lamplugh Trust has grown considerably and its work has broadened out to cover a much wider area than the original concept. Suzy Lamplugh Trust employs a growing team of dedicated, professional staff, backed by highly committed volunteers and a nation-wide network of Training Consultants. The Trust is based at The National Centre for Personal Safety in central London. Working with a wide range of partners in the public, private and voluntary sector, the Trust continues to seek out new ways to keep people safe from violence and aggression.

It has a very good team of dedicated and committed social workers. This year was a period of great achievements for the organization. The organization not only achieved its set targets but also expanded it activities into new areas. During this period, the organization succeeded in developing a close and intimate relationship with local community at grass root level. It helped it enrich its perception and gave it more strength and confidence.

SWEAD

SWEAD works with women and children whose lives are dominated by extreme poverty, illiteracy, disease and other handicaps. With multifaceted development interventions, SWEAD strives to bring about positive change in the quality of life of the poor women and children of Cuddalore region of Tamilnadu, SWEAD firmly believes and is actively involved in promoting dignity and gender equality through poor people's social, economic, political and human capacity building. Although the emphasis of SWEAD work is at the individual level and village level sustaining the work of the organisation depends on an environment that permits the poor to break out of the cycle of poverty and hopelessness. To this end, SWEAD endeavors to bring about change at the level of national policy on poverty reduction and health, SWEAD is committed to making its programmes socially, financially and environmentally sustainable, using new methods and improved technologies. Poverty reduction programmes undertaken so far have bypassed many of the poorest. In this context one of SWEAD main focuses is the ultra poor women. With multifaceted development interventions, SWEAD strives to bring about changes in the quality of life of these women and children.

Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation

The Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation is a charitable fundraising organisation. The fund was established in 1904 during the fight against tuberculosis (TB) when fight against the disease in Sweden was successful then. Now the Heart-Lung Foundation is aiming to conquer the major national diseases of today: heart, lung and vascular diseases. The Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation raises funds and distributes money to heart, lung and vascular research, and provides information about heart-lung disease. The fund supports research into fields such as heart attack, heart failure, vascular spasm, genetic heart defects, stroke, asthma, COPD and emphysema.

Swedish Society for Nature Conservation

When the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation was first founded over one hundred years ago, its work dealt with protecting Swedish nature. Over time, environmental problems have become increasingly global and our operations have therefore been widened. We spread knowledge, map environmental threats, create solutions, and influence politicians and public authorities, at both national and international levels.

Sweet Louise

We offer information, advice, support and a range of practical and therapeutic services that will help women with secondary breast cancer lead more positive lives. We do not advocate "alternative" medicine such as using special diet alone to treat cancer. Our services include research-proven strategies to complement traditional treatment and uplifting experiences and practical assistance.

SWHP

We care for abused or injured horses and ponies, rehabilitating them and re-homing them in a safe, caring environment. No horse or pony taken in by SWHP is ever sold. We rehome each horse or pony on a loan basis and monitor their progress through yearly visits. We take back any re-homed horse or pony that can no longer be kept by an adoptive home, whatever the reason and find it another home. The principles under which SWHP operates are that whatever the circumstances, the animal's welfare is paramount. We always try to act before the situation becomes desperate, frequently providing emergency feed and advice.

Founded in 2001, the SAMC is a charitable relief organization recognized as a charity, unpolitically and nationally active. It was founded by the association “Mamma“, with the goal of creating an independent, charitable relief organisation which always provides aid when women, couples and families get into serious difficulties due to pregnancy or the birth of a child.

Swiss Foundation Blood Stem Cells

Our organization is a private, non-profit foundation which was founded in 1988 by individuals in the area of blood stem cell transplantation, the blood donation service SRK and the medical community. Despite the relatively young age of the foundation, there are already some milestones that can be looked back on. Since 1988 we have run the national donor databank and search for compatible donors in Switzerland and abroad.

Swiss Global Artistic Foundation

In its nine years of existence, the Foundation has assisted over sixty artists from eighteen countries, and produced as many artistic events. Collaborating with distinguished individuals, embassies and cultural funding institutions, the Swiss Global Artistic Foundation promotes artists through ongoing business partnerships, often providing corporate hospitality through music in unique venues.

Swiss Ornithological Institute

We regularly inform the general public, authorities and media about current developments in ornithology to promote the understanding of problems faced by birds in our human-influenced world and provide general information on the life of birds. It is the joint application of basic research, applied conservation and information which allows us to comprehensively address bird issues and to make optimal use of the generous donations obtained every year.

Swiss Paraplegic Foundation

The young doctor who would go on to found the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation and who is currently its honorary president, Dr. Guido A. Zäch, first came into contact with people with spinal paralysis back in the 1960s. He quickly realised that there were gaps in the Swiss hospital, social and insurance system. He then crystallised his vision of holistic rehabilitation for paraplegics and tetraplegics. In 1973 he became a consultant in the Paraplegic Centre in Basel as it was known at the time. To meet the challenges of ensuring that patients lead a self-determined life with as much independence as possible, the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation today operates a comprehensive and integrated network of services.

The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is a private organization that also carries out public tasks on a mandate from the Swiss government or the cantonal authorities. As a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, which has its headquarters in Geneva, it is part of a worldwide network of 186 National Societies.

Swiss-Sierra Leone Development Foundation

The "Swiss-Sierra Leone Development Foundation" is a non-governmental organization (NGO) operating in the Western and Northern Regions of Sierra Leone. We have a country representative and a headquarters. The hospital at Magbenteh and the TFC have a general manager and a management team, as does the hospital in Lungi. The Magbenteh hospital personnel is made up of 127 people. We employ 40 people in Lungi. Click on the links below to see some photos of these employees. Since its creation in 1996, the association has set up: - medical and educational programs including the financing of surgical operations; - a sponsorship program for schooling of children; - the distribution of food and clothing for extremely poor populations and/or those with leprocy; - basic agricultural programs and a small scale humanitarian support service. The hospital at Magbenteh, the Therapeutic Feeding Center (TFC) and the hospital in Lungi are managed by our association. The hospital was built for the poorest populations in Sierra Leone. The hospital in Lungi, Bai Bureh Memorial Hospital, was already caring for this sector of the population before we took over its management. We will continue these efforts in both of these locations. The TFC mainly takes care of babies and children under 5 years of age and teaches parents to better feed their families. In order to be able to continue providing medical care to these vulnerable populations of Sierra Leone, SSLDF needs to find the necessary funds needed to continue running these programs.

SWISSAID

One of Switzerland’s leading aid organisations, SWISSAID was founded in 1948. We are involved in cooperative development projects in nine countries, try to influence policy-making on development in Switzerland, and inform people about the causes of poverty and underdevelopment. We have 84 staff worldwide, 29 of whom work in Switzerland. All our offices in the nine African, Asian and Latin American countries are staffed exclusively by local people, this is more efficient and effective, and also makes good financial sense. SWISSAID relies on the knowledge and skills of the people the projects are intended to help and does not bring in expensive experts from the northern hemisphere. We facilitate small, easily-managed projects, which are initiated and carried out by the affected people themselves. SWISSAID works in places where no, or very few, other aid organisations are involved. We are aware that real development can happen only when there is political change, this is why we are politically active, both in the Third World and Switzerland, but always on a non-sectarian basis and independent of party politics.

swisscontact

Swisscontact is a politically and denominationally neutral organization founded in 1959 by personalities from the Swiss private business and university sectors. Over five hundred staff members are active for Swisscontact in project countries as well as in Switzerland. In the 1960s, Swisscontact built up the first vocational training projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Later, in the 1980s, it developed the first small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) support concepts, as there was a great need in this domain, especially for graduates from vocational schools. SMEs find it very difficult to get inexpensive operational and investment loans, which is why programs were developed to help overcome these problems. As regards environmental protection, Swisscontact has mainly been involved in developing methods to combat air pollution. Our goal is to promote sustainable development (socially, ecologically and economically) in selected southern and eastern countries. Cooperation with local partners is a priority for Swisscontact, as our leading principle is: "Helping Others to Help Themselves".
