The Foundation’s funds are utilised to support and initiate a variety of studies and projects with a specific focus on pure research aimed at understanding rainforest flora and fauna, ecosystems, processes and biological interactions. Slow Food Cape Town
Health/Medical
Slow Food Cape Town is a local convivium (chapter) of the international Slow Food movement. Good food is delicious, natural and part of a cultural heritage. Clean food is grown sustainably, in an environmentally responsible manner. Fair food is produced by farmers and artisans who have food sovereignty: they are free to choose how, when, where and what food they produce, and are adequately remunerated and respected for their work. We safeguard local and indigenous dishes, made according to traditional methods, giving preference to foods that are grown and produced sustainably, by small farmers and producers, using traditional skills and methods.

Snow Leopard Trust
Animals/Wildlife
Founded in 1981, the Snow Leopard Trust is the world's leading authority on the study and protection of the endangered snow leopard. At the Snow Leopard Trust we use a combination of approaches that focus on partnering with communities in snow leopard habitat. But as we build community partnerships we use science and research to determine key snow leopard habitat, assess wildlife-human conflict levels, and identify potential resources for conservation programs. Once we have this information we can prioritize the areas where we will work. High priority areas include key snow leopard habitat, with a history of conflict between predators and the communities, and potential resources to sustain a community-based conservation program.
Soaring Eagle
Ethnic/Religion
A primary focus of Soaring Eagle are the Forgotten People - Native American elders. The most important resource to the Northern Cheyenne Tribe are their elderly, those who instill pride in cultural heritage, those who teach traditions to younger generations. Cheyenne heritage is lost when elders are sent off reservation to nursing homes, sometimes one hundred miles away. As tribal member Chief Charles Sitting Man, Jr. described it, "My people are packed off to towns where they can't speak English. Relatives don't have transportation to go that far to visit. The old die alone and come back in a bag - a bag of bones." That is why many Northern Cheyenne elders with health problems are happy to be moved into our Heritage Living Center. This 40-unit Assisted Living Facility covers more than 48,000 square feet on a five-acre elevation, approximately 3,000 feet above sea level, the perfect location for residents who are also photographers, painters, bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts. Observing the Cheyenne tradition, the front entrance faces East, the direction in which the Cheyenne elders greet Maheo, the Creator, each morning at sunrise.
Social Care World (SCW)
Community/Family
Promoting social care provision for the old, the young and the disabled in Africa and south-east Asia, in order to reduce the social care burden on families and enable them to become more economically productive and so reduce poverty. We support the palliative careworkers to implement cost effective methods and programmes that maximise their ability to help and accomplish their tasks. The people who are living with a long term disabling condition or need support in all areas of their lives are ‘less fortunate’ so, the SCW is of the view that the expedient life-span of the ‘less fortunate’ can be sustained. Social Care World is informing all peoples of the world, and SCW is getting the international humanitarian community to recognise the problems of ‘family burden’ of social care as the greatest source of underdevelopment and persisting poverty.

Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel
Environment
Six decades ago, the nascent State of Israel was little more than a scarred landscape. Neglected and barren, this land – so small and with so few natural resources - had to sustain the great ingathering of Jews from the four corners of the world. The pioneers knew then that ensuring environmental sustainability would be pivotal. And so the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel - HaHevra LeHaganat HaTeva - was born out of this fundamental need. SPNI is not only the oldest non-profit in Israel, but the largest, with the widest range of activities. SPNI is omnipresent – everywhere there is an environmental problem, nature worth cherishing and defending, or citizens wanting nature and environmental education – SPNI is there. Early followers and supporters of SPNI have literally been part of the history of Israel’s environmental movement.
