The Police Foundation works closely with the Police Commisioner to develop a strategic program agenda. The Foundation encourages and supports NYPD programs in two main areas: projects, research studies, and equipment to improve the effectiveness of police activities; and education, training and skill development to strengthen the partnership between the police and the public. Public safety cannot rest on the shoulders of law enforcement agencies alone. As much as we all need the police, they need our support as well.
New York Community Trust
Community/Family
We are one of the country's largest community foundations with assets of more than $1.7 billion in nearly 2,000 individual charitable funds. In 2008, we made $123 million in grants. We have been helping charitable individuals, families, and businesses with their philanthropy since 1924. We make philanthropy convenient, professional, and lasting. Since our founding, the Trust has helped make donors' charitable dreams come true by funding the nonprofits that make our city a vital and secure place. Our investment goal is to increase charitable assets while preserving capital. Investments are selected to support a fund's grantmaking pattern. Because we are a philanthropy, not an investment firm, our financial staff is guided by seasoned, dedicated investment professionals who volunteer countless hours as members of our Investment Committee. The committee decides on asset allocations, selects asset managers, and monitors their performance. Funds in trust are managed by the trustee bank in which they were created.

To achieve this vision, NYRP partners with individuals, community-based groups, and public agencies to reclaim, restore, and develop under-resourced parks, community gardens, and other open spaces in New York City.
