Mother of Peace Communities
Children/Education
At Mother of Peace Illovo we currently provide homes for over 70 children, and hope to grow further still. The children live in family units made up of six children and a house mother – this provides much needed stability and a sense of family living. Children are blessed with food, clothing, medical care and schooling. We care for these vulnerable children, and endeavour to maintain language and cultural identities. Our goal is to bring them up as responsible members of society and provide palliative care to those who are terminally ill - A number of our children are either HIV positive or have full blown AIDS.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving
Human Rights
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) captured the nation's attention when it was created in 1980. The purpose of this groundbreaking organization: to stop drunk driving and serve the victims of this violent crime. During the next two decades, U.S. alcohol-related fatalities declined by more than 40 percent. While more than 330,000 lives have been saved with MADD's help, progress has stalled in recent years. More than 13,000 people are killed annually by drunk drivers. These deaths, together with more than half-a-million injuries, are 100 percent preventable.

Mothers' Union
Community/Family
In 83 countries, our members share one heartfelt vision - to bring about a world where God's love is shown through loving, respectful and flourishing relationships. This is not a vague hope, but a goal we actively pursue through prayer, programmes, policy work and community relationships. By supporting marriage and family life, especially through times of adversity, we tackle the most urgent needs challenging relationships and communities. Our members are not all mothers, or even all women. Single, married, parents, grandparents, or young adults just beginning to express their social conscience.
Mothers2mothers
Community/Family
Founded by Dr. Mitchell Besser in 2001, mothers2mothers has developed from a single support group in Cape Town to a multinational NGO with 680 sites in seven countries in sub-Saharan Africa. mothers2mothers is an innovative mentoring program offering comprehensive support for HIV-positive pregnant women and new mothers. Preventing the transmission of HIV from a mother to a child is a straightforward medical procedure. Its simplest application, a single dose of medication to a mother during labor and a dose to her infant shortly after birth, can cut transmission risk nearly in half. With the advent of PMTCT treatment in Africa, the key obstacle to its effectiveness is the need for outreach, education and support for HIV-positive pregnant women and new mothers so they can overcome social and emotional barriers that keep them from accessing medical care.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association
Health/Medical
The MND Association is a charity working to help people with MND secure the care and support they need, while promoting research into causes, treatments and a cure. We also campaign nationally and locally for better care for all people with MND, and provide support and advice to help people with the disease and those who care for them to achieve the highest quality of life possible.

We graduate well-rounded individuals who are highly skilled in medicine as well as compassionate caregivers. Students learn clinical care working side-by-side with world-renowned doctors and gain experience in the laboratory from scientists answering fundamental questions about human disease. Because successful and empathetic communication is critical to effective patient and doctor relationships, we have established programs, such as the Morchand Center for Clinical Competence, to help students and physicians develop superb communication skills.

Moving the Goalposts Kilifi (MTG)
Women
MTG started with a sport and development project in Kilifi in 2001. Many people could see that there were huge gender differences being experienced by men and women and boys and girls in Kilifi in terms of opportunities in school, health, leadership roles and employment. We thought that if we took a new approach – using football to tackle gender disparities – we might be able to get to the heart of some of the problems faced by girls and women in Kilifi. So with a small amount of seed funding from the British Council the project was set up with advice and support from Moving the Goalposts UK (a registered charity in the UK). More girls started to play football in and out of school, participating in tournaments organized by MTG. Now, eight years later there are over 3,000 players whereas in 2001 when the project started there were just 120. MTG has branched out with a reproductive health rights, HIV and AIDS programme, has established participatory monitoring and evaluation in all projects and is most recently started an economic empowerment project.
