he Kenya Acorn Project was established in 1998, by a group of UK visitors to the Ndhiwa area of Western Kenya, in response to evident community need. Many people in the United Kingdom and in Kenya are involved in KAP. This is to increase fund raising but also to increase awareness of development education within the North East of England, making global links between the two communities in England and Kenya. Our projects include financial donations, hospital equipment, educational materials and UK volunteers, many of whom have visited the project for periods of several weeks to up to six months, and have provided labour, skills and materials to upgrade the physical infrastructure of the Community Hospital and of the five selected schools. To date, fund-raising has targeted mostly individual donations, but has included contributions from the British Army in Kenya, and other supporters.

Deaf children like all other children have the right of care and protection from abuse, right to education, health and family life. Further enjoyment of all human rights on an equal basis with others is including respect for their evolving capacities and their right to preserve their identities. Empowering families: We believe that families have a key role to play in caring for and defending the rights of Deaf children. For parents to effectively do this, they need to be able to communicate with their children, they need information, help to mobilize and they need to overcome their own development challenges. Poverty is a key barrier to empowering families in Kenya. We believe that in order to achieve the best possible outcome for Deaf children and their families, for whom all our work is carried on their behalf; we need to put in place strategic partnerships with donors and supporters. Responsibility to all our stakeholders, integrity and good governance are critical in our operation in order to manage resources put in our trust for the benefit of all Deaf children. Kenya Society for Deaf Children (KSDC) is managed by a very competent management committee composed of Educationalists, Health Specialist, Financiers, Programme Development Specialists, teachers and parents. It is a very committed team and gives maximum service to the organization. The Management Committee submits their report and audited financial statements during their financial year that ends on 30th June. The Management Committee is composed of 24 members who have formed 3 sub-committees for ease of management.

Keychange Charity, formerly known as Christian Alliance, was founded in 1920 by a group of women concerned for the social and spiritual needs of young single women working in cities. Just after the First World War, lunch clubs were set up where young women, many in menial jobs, could meet and make friends. Hostels opened for young working and student women and later for men. In the 1950s holiday homes were established to provide young families with affordable seaside holidays. Over the last 80 years the work of Keychange Charity has responded to the demands of a rapidly changing society. We now operate in two distinct areas of social need: providing homes for frail elderly people, and supported accommodation for young and vulnerable homeless people. All of our centres are run on Christian principles.

KeyRing exists to enable members of its Living Support Networks to exercise choice in and take responsibility for their own homes. KeyRing's support was designed to make the best use of network members' own abilities. Ten ordinary properties are scattered around a small neighbourhood. You can walk easily from one property to another. Nine flats or houses are for people with learning disabilities. The tenth flat is for KeyRing's community Living Worker who works part-time on a flexible basis. This arrangement enables KeyRing to build layers of support around the network members. KeyRing works hard to build links with the local community and believes that these Community Connections are an important part of independent living. Along with mutual support within the network, Community Connections reduce dependence on workers and develop members' confidence and self-reliance.

Kidney Research UK is dedicated to improving the understanding of kidney disease, its causes, prevention and treatment. The Charity’s main research objective is to support a wide range of projects by UK scientists, through a combination of open response-mode calls and commissioned research in strategically important areas. We believe that understanding basic mechanisms of kidney disease through high-quality research is important for developing novel treatments and for prevention. The spectrum of studies we support ranges from molecular investigation of how molecules, genes and cells work through to clinical trials and health services research, relating to kidney disease, dialysis and transplantation. The Charity recognises that training of basic and clinical scientists is an essential investment for the future of kidney health in the UK. We award training fellowships to clinicians to support their career development and the Charity also seeks to provide support for young scientists to undertake a PhD, undergo postdoctoral training, or through senior fellowships to establish themselves as independent researchers

To give children the opportunity to create meaningful futures for themselves, they need to learn how to make wise choices, not just as consumers, but as citizens. Through the Kids 2020 Learning Programme, children learn the role that values play in making their choices. This guides them toward their visions of a preferred future. They learn how to implement strategies and bring their visions alive. They grow skills in citizenship - creating a path toward sustainable living. Ultimately, children learn a new way of thinking. With this new habit of mind, they establish practices that transform their communities. The Kids 2020 Learning Programme provides a continuous growth path for children where they learn how to transform ideas into working concepts.
