Hospice Africa Ireland (HAI) is a support organisation for Hospice Africa and Hospice Africa Uganda. Since it was founded in 1993, Hospice Africa has supported the provision of palliative care to patients with cancer and HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa. Hospice Africa Uganda has been established as an affordable palliative care service within Uganda, and this model is used to promote this work as an African model throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Today HA has developed links with Malawi, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, and the Gambia.

Established in 1946 by Howard P. House, M.D., as the Los Angeles Foundation of Otology, and later renamed for its founder, the House Ear Institute has been engaged in the scientific exploration of the auditory system from the ear canal to the cortex of the brain for over 60 years. Institute scientists investigate hearing loss and ear disease at the cellular and molecular level, as well as the complex neurological interactions between the auditory system and brain.

Red Barrels offer a convenient way for grocery shoppers to donate nonperishables for their neighbors in need. The Houston Food Bank, founded in 1982, is a certified member of Feeding America, the nation’s food bank network. The organization plans to grow to an annual distribution of 120 million pounds of food by 2018.

HULA Animal Rescue is a small registered charity that has been helping animals and their owners since 1972 by a concerned vet, his wife and other animal lovers. HULA was started in a back garden in Luton but due to the rapid increase in the numbers of animals needing help moved to its current site in Aspley Guise in 1978. HULA takes in unwanted and abandoned small animal pets (cats, dogs, rabbits, gerbils, birds etc.) for re-homing, but also rescues large animals and has goats, pigs, Shetland ponies, chickens, ducks, geese, sheep and donkeys as well as two very lively cows which will stay with us for the rest of their lives. Animals come to us in various ways and for a variety of reasons, including domestic break-up, death or infirmity of the owner, hospitalisation, imprisonment, emigration, change of job, moving to new accommodation where pets aren’t allowed and sometimes because they have been abandoned.

Human Rights & Justice Group International

Human Rights & Justice Group Int'l (Justice Group) is an independent, non-governmental and not-for-profit voluntary initiative which was established in 1999 by Nigerians from different professional, cultural and social backgrounds to enhance knowledge, respect and observance of human rights, and to encourage exchange of information and experiences for the betterment of the citizenry through the instrumentality of law, education, enlightenment and humanitarianism. Justice Group membership is drawn from a rich blend of activists and other professionals working together on a shared commitment to justice, the rule of law and human dignity. The idea of the group was to build awareness about those rights as well as investigate and advocate various means for securing their implementation. In addition, our programs aim at broadening access of individuals and communities and strengthening their participation in the design and implementation of social and economic policies/programs which affect them. We work with communities and groups that cut across gender, literacy, age and social lines, and use focused group pilot projects to measure the impact our interventions are making in target communities.
