Our mission is to contribute to lessening poverty, inequality and climate change through transformative education and active global citizenship.

Development Perspectives is a Development Education NGO and registered charity (No. 18555) based in Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland and is part of a national and global network of curious, critical thinkers and development practitioners working for social justice.

Bobby McCormack and Margaret Downey are the co-founders and the local team is made up of a network of highly skilled and talented individuals with a background in both the formal and non-formal sectors. Together we combine our different talents, interests and perspectives to create a creative team of development workers who are not afraid to ‘think outside the box’ or challenge accepted norms.

Our vision of the world is one where people live in peace with each other, in harmony with nature, free from the shackles of hunger and poverty and who are willing to work and co-operate with each other to bring about an equitable, just and sustainable world.

At home we:
•Provide high quality Development Education opportunities for adults and young people in the formal and non-formal sectors.
•Engage groups of people in programmes to bring about a deeper knowledge of Development challenges and to implement effective actions to lessen poverty and inequality.
•Build leadership capacity within communities through educational opportunities, so people can become more socially entrepreneurial, innovative, sustainable, healthy and resilient.
•Collaborate and work in partnership with stakeholders to maximize the effectiveness of Development work.
Abroad we:
•Work in collaboration with Uvikiuta (Tanzania), Cranebow (Uganda), DEN-L (Liberia) and Barefeet Theatre (Zambia) sharing learning and exchanges.
•Through our Insight programme participants get the opportunity to view the world differently by learning in different environments with groups of people from diverse backgrounds. The impact of this is deep and profound, with many people realising that irrespective of where you live, you can effect the global through local actions.
