Deepalaya is a non - government development organization working on issues affecting the urban and rural poor, with a special focus on children. It is because ‘Every child deserves a chance’ that the organization exists and works towards making that possible. For the past 30 years Deepalaya has been working in the urban slums of Delhi and has also made inroads into rural development in the states of Haryana and Uttarakhand.

This ecosystem is the largest realm on earth for millions of plants and animals, a major actor in the global climates dynamics. It is also a rich area for food production and resource for the growing demands of the increasing world population. But the oceans are daily under strong attack: pollution and mismanagement of the resources threaten the fragile balance of this unique biotope. Only with united conservation efforts on national and international level this environmental degradation of the high seas can be stopped. Thus, the initiative Deepwave was founded in spring 2003 in order to develop and enforce environmental tools to protect the ecosystem of the high and deepsea.

Defence for Children International (DCI) is an independent non-governmental organisation that has been promoting and protecting children's rights on a global, regional, national and local level for over 25 years. The movement was founded in July 1979 by Nigel Cantwell and Canon Moerman, the chair of the International Year of the Child, at a time when children's rights were not the main focus of many organizations. The International Year of the Child instigated the dissemination of an unprecedented amount of information about children's rights violations such as torture, prostitution, economic exploitation, arbitrary detention, and trafficking and sale. At the time, few international structures were dedicated to a human rights-based approach to the many problems faced by the world's children. DCI was established in direct response to this void.

Delta Environmental Centre is an environmental education, training and consultation network. It is an independent non-profit organisation that aims, through innovative education and training programmes, to enable people to improve their environment by promoting the management and sustainable use of all resources, in line with the South African Constitution. DEMAND transforms the lives of disabled people by designing and manufacturing equipment where no "off the shelf" product is available. This equipment enables users to achieve everyday tasks, to participate in sport and leisure activities and to speed recovery from disabling injuries. We recognise that every individual has their own specific requirements and tailor the equipment to meet them. We supply the equipment free of charge to individuals but charge Health and Social Services, or Private and Public Organisations for the work we do.

DEMIRA Deutsche Minenraeumer e.V. is an international, humanitarian, NGO (non-governmental organisation) registered in Germany. DEMIRA NGO was founded in 1996 in order to provide humanitarian mine clearance, EOD (explosive ordnance disposal), emergency medical aid and disaster relief to people living in postwar countries and to victims of natural disasters and civil unrest.

Dental Health Without Borders (DHWB) is a Danish humanitarian association founded in 2002. The association arranges a number of projects in low-income countries and sends out a substantial number of voluntary dentists and dental assistants to do field work. The projects of the association are financed by members, sponsors, private donations, and in some cases with the support of DANIDA’s Mini Grants. DHWB received the Health Award 2006 of the Danish Association of Dentists for its efforts towards improving dental health.

For over 12 years, Waris Dirie has fought against female genital mutilation (FGM) worldwide. At least 150 million women and girls are affected by this cruel practice, which continues to be performed in Africa, but also in Asia, Europe, America and Australia. The Desert Flower Foundation seeks to end this crime by raising public awareness, creating networks, organizing events and educational programmes. The foundation also supports victims of FGM. Waris means Desert Flower, a flower that can bloom even in the roughest climate. Waris Dirie is a nomadic child from Somalia and a mother of two beautiful sons. She is a human rights activist, a supermodel, and a best-selling author who has received numerous prestigious awards for her work and her commitment in the fight against female genital mutilation.

Non-profit organization ‘Beauty Without Irony’ has launched the international project 'Designers Against AIDS' (DAA) in 2004 in order to raise AIDS awareness in the international media and towards the general public, more specifically towards young people in the industrialised countries using elements from pop culture. The main objective of Designers against AIDS is to raise awareness and to get the subject of HIV/AIDS back into the media all over the world, as lately it has become a forgotten disease, especially in the western world. Our messages are: 'Prevention is the only cure for HIV/AIDS' (protect yourself and your partner) and 'Know your status' (get tested). Furthermore we fight for the acceptance of and equal rights for seropositive people.
