Millions of children face poverty & violence in their everyday lives. We believe all children deserve a life free from injustice and abuse. ChildHope was established as an independent UK charity in 1989. With support from UNICEF, Save the Children (Sweden) and others, ChildHope grew out of the recognition of the huge and growing but neglected problem of children living and working on the streets of Africa, Asia and South America. ChildHope began by responding to street children’s immediate needs for food, clothing, shelter, healthcare and counselling. Over the last twenty years, we have been working with local organisations to develop long lasting solutions aimed at tackling the root causes of the poverty and the injustice faced by children around the world. As a result ChildHope has established a reputation for our innovative and highly effective approach to improving the lives of children.

Childnet International
Children/Education
As the Internet began to gain widespread use in the mid 1990s, it became clear that it had tremendous potential as an educational and entertainment medium for children around the world. At the same time a number of governments and law enforcement agencies in certain countries were beginning to respond to the new dangers of children being hurt through this new interactive media. However, only limited co-ordination was taking place internationally between the different sectors. In response to some of these challenges, Nigel Williams established Childnet International in 1996. In all its work Childnet seeks to take a balanced approach. On this website you can read about the way we have sought to promote the positive and highlight the creative and inspiring ways children and young people are using the medium for good. You can also read about the ways we have responded to the negative aspects and dangers for children. Childnet works in 3 main areas of Access, Awareness, Protection & Policy.

Children Of The Promise Canada
Research/Dev
Life is not easy in a place like Haiti. Situations can seem like they are beyond hope at times. There are several areas of work that our volunteers can participate in. One is in the maintenance and repairs to our buildings, plus occasional construction projects. These are more physically strenuous, but necessary work. And of course, there are the babies. During the day, changing, feeding, bathing and playing are regular occurrences. Over the past few years a number of children that have come to our attention have needed medical care or intervention that was not accessible in Haiti. In those cases, we have helped to secure donated medical services for them in the USA.

Children of Bukati
Research/Dev
Western Kenya is suffering from the devastation caused by HIV-AIDS. In Busia District alone, almost half of the children have lost one or both their parents to AIDS and 30% of the adults are HIV positive. The primary goal of the Children of Bukati Project is to enable all AIDS orphans and destitute children in the rural village of Butula to attend the Bukati Primary School. We ensure that girls are being educated, by aiming for approximately equal numbers of girls and boys to go to school. Currently 48% of the new AIDS orphans in the program are girls. We raise awareness about this community in Canada. Connect Canadians with the people in this community.
