Australian Rotary Health Research Fund

Australian Rotary Health is Australia's largest non-government funding body of mental illness research. We also fund research in other health related areas. The genesis of Australian Rotary Health in 1981 was the mystery of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The Late Ian Scott, from the Rotary Club of Mornington, established Australian Rotary Health to support research into SIDS. As Australian Rotary Health grew so did the vision of medical research possibilities. Supported by Rotarians Australian wide, Australian Rotary Health was soon in a position to sponsor health research in areas that did not readily attract funding.

Australian Wildlife Conservancy

AWC acquires land, and works with other landholders, to establish sanctuaries for the conservation of threatened wildlife and ecosystems. AWC now owns 21 sanctuaries covering over 2.5 million ha (6.2 million acres) in places such as north Queensland, the Kimberley, western New South Wales, Northern Territory and the forests of south western Australia. AWC aims to ensure that its sanctuaries act as 'catalysts' for broader landscape scale conservation efforts. Accordingly, AWC works closely with its neighbours to also promote conservation beyond the borders of each AWC sanctuary.

Autism Queensland is a community based, not-for-profit, Incorporated Association dedicated to bringing about positive change in the lives of people with Autism and their families. We are the only organisation that provides a comprehensive range of specialised services and support for people of all ages living with Autism and their families throughout Queensland. We are the state’s longest serving and most experienced agency with over 40 years of experience in the delivery of Early Intervention, education and training, support, therapy and respite care. Our services include Queensland’s only accredited, non-state schools located at Sunnybank and Brighton delivering Autism-specific education and therapy programs; Centres of Excellence in Far North and Central Queensland; as well as outreach, training and support services for parents, professionals and schools across the state. Autism Queensland is involved in a variety of research programs in collaboration with universities to better understand Autism and develop improved interventions for people with Autism in the future. Demand for our services is growing every year – we now support over 3,000 people with Autism across Queensland, this is up 40 per cent from 10 years ago.

2015 marked 10 years of progress since Autism Speaks first opened its doors in 2005. As we move into our 11th year our goal is to significantly enhance autism services in every community and push to get the ground breaking ABLE Act , now the law of the land, implemented in all 50 states. Our dedicated field teams will be the ones heading this effort. Autism Speaks was founded in February 2005 by Bob and Suzanne Wright, grandparents of a child with autism. Their long time friend Bernie Marcus donated $25 million to help financially launch the organization. Since then, Autism Speaks has grown into the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. Aspect is the country's largest not-for-profit autism specific service provider. Aspect builds confidence and capacity in people with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), their families and communities by providing information, education and other services. Established in 1966, Aspects's specialised evidence-based autism educational program is amongst the largest in the world and incorporates: direct services for children in the form of early intervention and schooling, six specialty schools, over 60 satellite classes, education and family support, assessment and transition and itinerant education support. We offer advice and assistance for many families who are either receiving inadequate or inappropriate services, or for whom there are no services at all. Aspect is a central resource for families and services seeking information and advice about autism spectrum disorders, including Asperger's syndrome in NSW.

Autism Sussex provides a range of services which are autism-friendly, individualistic, structured, predictable and low-arousal, which ensures that service users are better able to manage their anxieties, stress and social interactions more successfully. The general philosophy of Autism Sussex is to provide a safe base for people with autistic spectrum conditions, where their special needs are recognised and from which they may take full advantage of community opportunities. Autism Sussex aims to enable its service-users to play as full a part in their community as appropriate to each individual. Emphasis is placed on an enabling role to foster independence and self-determination. Whatever their level of ability or patterns of behaviour, all people with autistic spectrum conditions are socially naive and extremely vulnerable, largely oblivious to the common dangers of life. To support them, Autism Sussex, employs highly motivated and well-trained staff to provide a level of support appropriate to each individual.
