Wisconsin Humane Society

WHS has been saving the lives of animals in need for 130 years. Because of our long and illustrious history of serving the Milwaukee community, we are also known as the Milwaukee Humane Society. As the largest and most recognized shelter in the state of Wisconsin, WHS offers a comprehensive adoption program, lifesaving medical care, a spay/neuter clinic, and educational programs for children and adults. We run one of the largest wildlife rehabilitation hospitals of its kind in the nation, rescuing thousands of animals annually.

WISE Employment

Founded in Australia in 1992, WISE Employment is a not-for-profit community service organisation, with branches across Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania and the Northern Territory. We are committed to supporting disadvantaged members of the community and provide assistance to job seekers and employers under the Disability Employment Services and Job Services Australia. We take a progressive approach to social enterprise and community investment, reinvesting our surplus funds into innovative projects and programs that benefit the most marginalised and under supported sections of our community. We also operate two social enterprises that provide employment for highly disadvantaged job seekers in Victoria and Tasmania.

Wish Upon A Hero

The vision of Wish Upon A Hero consist of using the power of the internet combined with the passion to help. This combinations allows the world to help more people, more efficiently. We call it the Social Helping Network. The Wish Upon A Hero Foundation utilizes this network to grant wishes in two ways. First, we grant wishes posted on our website. Posted wishes provides our team with the basic information about you and your need. The wish can easily be shared which will give it the exposure needed to be granted.

Wishing Well Foundation

Wishing Well Foundation USA Inc., was founded on the premise that children with terminal illnesses are denied the basic right to grow into adulthood. For these unfortunate children, The Wishing Well Foundation will fulfill the fondest wish of any child not expected to reach age 18. Each wish, the child's very own, must be completed while the child is able to enjoy the wish to the fullest extent. Both the child and family will share in the experience and create happy memories together. The Wishing Well Foundation is committed to this single purpose.

WITNESS

Beyond providing video cameras and editing equipment, WITNESS is committed to facilitating exposure for our partners' issues on a global scale. We help broker relationships with international media outlets, government officials, policymakers, activists, and the general public so that once a video is made, it can be used as a tool to advocate for change. We envision a just and equitable world where all individuals and communities are able to defend and uphold human rights.

WNYC

WNYC has a long and distinguished history of providing New York and the nation with unique news, educational, cultural, and public affairs programming. WNYC-AM 820, one of the oldest radio stations in America, first went on the air on July 8, 1924. WNYC 93.9 FM signed on in 1943. Before January 1997, both stations were owned by the City of New York and operated by the WNYC Foundation, a not-for-profit organization established by private citizens committed to the cause of public radio. In 1995, the WNYC Foundation agreed to purchase the two WNYC radio licenses from the City of New York for $20 million and WNYC Radio is now run as an independent, not-for-profit organization. Grants and listener contributions cover more than 60% of the operating budgets for the two radio stations.

Wola Nani

Formed against a background of economic curtailment on welfare spending and a huge increase in the number of HIV and AIDS cases, Wola Nani initiated programmes to help HIV+ people in the local community cope with the emotional and financial strains brought about by HIV and AIDS. Focusing on the needs of HIV+ women and their children, Wola Nani’s services aim to ease the burden of HIV by enabling people living with the virus to respond positively and attain the skills to develop their own coping strategies. Historically disenfranchised, disempowered and marginalised, women bear the brunt of the national pandemic. They have little voice to articulate their needs or to claim the services on which their survival depends.

Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts

As America's National Park for the Performing Arts, Wolf Trap plays a valuable leadership role in both the local and national performing arts communities. Through a wide range of artistic and education programs, Wolf Trap enhances our nation's cultural life and ensures that the arts remain accessible and affordable to the broadest possible audience. The Foundation, a nonprofit organization, creates and selects programming; develops education programs; handles ticket sales, marketing, publicity, and public relations; and raises funds to support these programs while keeping ticket prices affordable. In addition to year-round performances, Wolf Trap offers a variety of education programs both locally and nationwide. Its primary education program, the Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts, places professional performing artists in preschool classrooms nationwide.

WolfsHaven Animal Sanctuary

Wolfshaven and its associates are dedicated to the responsible rescue, rehabilitation and correct re-homing of domestic dogs from all walks of life, regardless of their age, origins, or background. Wolfshaven is a staunch supporter of essential sterilisation for all domestic dogs. Resident dogs are not in kennels, but are allowed much freedom in spacious enclosures with grass, shade and walk-in shelters, or live in the home with the family. Over the years since founded in 2000, many dogs have been overlooked for adoption due to old age or a traumatised background, and these now form the core group of the resident dogs, restricting our intakes, as our first responsibility is towards these rejected ones. Some of them are now the ripe old age of 18…still active and in excellent health. The organisation works in full co-operation with our sanctuary veterinarian, to ensure that the dogs are at all times in prime health.

Womankind Worldwide

Womankind Worldwide helps women in developing countries - silenced or isolated by harmful traditions, conflict, violence and intimidation or the sheer exhaustion of surviving in poverty - to have a distinctive say in what goes on in their family, community and country. Our aim is to embed what matters most to girls and women into every aspect of life, from the smallest domestic details to the most sweeping strategic decisions.

Women Against Violence Europe

WAVE is a network of European women's non-governmental organisations working in the field of combating violence against women and children. Currently the Network focuses specifically on violence in the family and in intimate relationships. The Network sets out to promote and strengthen the human rights of women and children in general and to prevent violence against women and children in particular. We fully support the aims of the United Nations, stressing the importance of working towards ending all forms of violence against women and children in public and private life in accordance with the Vienna Declaration, the Declaration on Violence against Women, the Beijing Platform for Beijing Platform for Action and all other related documents.

Women for Women International

We believe strong women build strong nations. Since 1993, Women for Women International has helped nearly 420,000 marginalised women in countries affected by war and conflict. We directly work with women in 8 countries, offering support, tools, and access to life-changing skills to move from crisis and poverty to stability and economic self-sufficiency. We bring women together in a safe space to learn life, business, and vocational skills. Once enrolled, each woman receives a monthly stipend – a vital support that enables her to participate. Women increase their ability to earn an income with new skills that are in demand. They learn about their legal rights, and they become knowledgeable about health and nutrition. The result: stronger women, stronger families, and stronger communities. The ripple effect is profound.

Women in Leadership Foundation

The Women In Leadership Foundation (WIL) creates inspirational programs that bring women together in developing their leadership skills and creating positive change in the future of women’s leadership in Canada. Our Mentorship Program assists in developing and enhancing leadership skills for both mentors and mentees, while the Aboriginal Women Leaders Scholarship Award was created to recognize Aboriginal women who are active in their communities and in support of their pursuit of education. We believe each woman has the power to make a difference, to inspire others, and that together, we are able to support each other’s journey and celebrate success.

Women in Progress

Women in Progress works to achieve economic independence of women and alleviate poverty at a grassroots level in developing nations through the sustainable growth of small women-owned businesses and at the same time establishes mutual understanding among people of diverse cultures. As an international volunteer organization, Women in Progress helps people volunteer abroad. Our international volunteer programs focus on assisting women in Africa to grow their micro enterprises and become self sufficient through business and IT consulting and training. Through volunteer opportunities abroad, you can use your skills to make a difference in the future of women and their families in Ghana.

Women On Farms Project

Women on Farms Project (WFP) is a registered South African non-governmental organisation (NGO) working with women in commercial agriculture, mainly in the Western Cape Province. The project grew out of a 1992 Lawyers for Human Rights (LHR) initiative aimed at meeting the specialised needs of women who live and work on farms (farmwomen. With the belief that a strong organisation of women, led by women, in the sector is vital to bring about change, WFP explored the options for building a member-based organisation through its network of Vroue Regte Groepe on farms. At a workshop in June 2003 with representatives from all VRG, farmwomen took the decision to establish a membership organisation of women, led by women. WFP is seen as a key role player in the sector and demand for its services and participation, both from its constituency of farmwomen, and other role players, remains high.

Women On Waves

Every 8 minutes somewhere in the world a woman dies needless as a result of illegal, unsafe abortion. In response to this violation of womens human rights and medical need, Women on Waves sails to countries where abortion is illegal. This is done at the invitation of local women's organizations. With the use of a ship, early medical abortions can be provided safely, professionally and legally. Women on Waves aims to prevent unsafe abortions and empower women to exercise their human rights to physical and mental autonomy, by combining free healthcare services and sexual education with advocacy. Women on Waves is a non-profit organization.

Women Thrive Worldwide

Giving women greater economic opportunity lifts families, communities, and countries out of poverty. Women Thrive Worldwide advocates for changes in U.S. policy that will have the greatest impact on reducing poverty through women. Because of this, our work has a ripple effect, often benefiting millions of women living in poverty at once. We focus on making U.S. international assistance and trade programs prioritize women. We bring together a diverse coalition of over 50 organizations and 40,000 individuals united in the belief that women are the key to ending global poverty, and empowering them is not only right, it’s also the most effective long-term solution to world poverty.

Women to Women International

Women to Women International works with communities throughout the world to develop and transform women’s lives. Although most countries are part of an international legal framework which guarantees the rights of women, often it has little impact on daily life. Many women in developing countries have little understanding and knowledge of their guaranteed basic rights to health care, education and economic opportunity. This impacts dramatically on the communities in which they live, economically, with their ability to contribute to the household income severely reduced, and in health terms, with lack of knowledge about medical care increasing the risk of maternal and child illness, disability and early death.
