The Sanctuary Wildlife Care Centre is located in Ulgham in Morpeth, Northumberand. It is a family run, not for profit organisation caring for unwanted or injured animals across the north of England. The Sanctuary relies upon donations , fundraising and income from visitors to continue its work caring for wildlife. The Sanctuary offers personal tours of the centre and the animals in care, throughout the year. Unique in the North East, The Sanctuary Wildlife Care Centre offers visitors of all ages and abilities the opportunity to see most species of British wildlife including foxes, badgers, deer, owls and hedgehogs. It also has viewing available from its purpose built wildlife hide. The Sanctuary also has car parking, children's play area, shop and tea room.

The Seeing Eye

The Seeing Eye, Inc. is the oldest existing dog guide school in the world. Twelve times a year, as many as 24 students at a time visit the Morristown, N.J. campus to discover the exhilarating experience of traveling with a Seeing Eye® dog. Our students – people who are blind or visually impaired – come from all over the United States and Canada to spend up to a month training with a new Seeing Eye® dog. They range in age from 16 to senior citizens, their home environments may be rural or urban, and they may be homemakers, volunteers, or judges. But they all have this in common: They are motivated by a sense of independence and armed with the knowledge that Seeing Eye® dogs will provide an extra edge to attain success, however they may choose to define it. Each partnership between human and dog is the culmination of decades of research, millions of dollars invested, and an immeasurable accumulation of curiosity and analytical vision. It’s also the result of decades spent observing and understanding the individuality of each student. From its state-of-the-art Breeding Station and its authoritative puppy-raising methods, to its pioneering instruction and training procedures, the programs The Seeing Eye offers all have one common goal: the empowerment of people who are blind.

The Shepherd Centre

The Shepherd Centre teaches deaf and hearing impaired children how to listen and speak so that they can reach their full potential in the hearing world. The Shepherd Centre was founded in 1970 by Dr Bruce Shepherd AM and his late wife Annette. In 1970 there were just five families in our program. Today The Shepherd Centre helps over 200 children and families in five centres in NSW and ACT, as well as families in rural and remote areas of Australia and overseas via our residential workshop and correspondence program. Our family centred early intervention program focuses on training parents to seize every opportunity in day to day situations to teach their children to listen and speak. Our aim is that children will enter their local mainstream schools in a fully-integrated environment. We currently achieve this goal for over 90% of children at The Shepherd Centre.

Southern Cross Care operates a network of Lifestyle Villages specially designed for those over 60 years, comprising independent living units, supported living apartments and special care cottages. These residential programs are complemented by wide-ranging community care services which enable people to remain living independently in the broader community. We provide Community Aged Care Packages intended to help frail older people and those with a disability to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible. We also offer independent living units that have one, two or three bedroom accommodation across a range of cottage, villa and unit settings. They are designed for older people who are actively independent and able to care for themselves. Located within a fully maintained village setting, they offer an enhanced lifestyle in a relaxed community environment. We provide residential care to help meets the needs of those older people who require assistance in their day to day living activities, including personal care, meals, cleaning etc.
