SAFEchild provides guidance on child protection issues in line with current child protection legislation and promotes the Government's "Every Child Matters" agenda. Established in 1999, SAFEchild is a registered charity and is dedicated to promoting the welfare of all children and young people. Backed by a multi agency team of very experienced and highly qualified child protection professionals, SAFEchild provides a comprehensive range of services to help keep children safe. At SAFEchild we take a straightforward and practical approach and make tackling the subject easier through the use of guidance templates for writing child protection policies and risk assessments. We also offer distance-learning child protection training courses, CRB checks and up to the minute child protection information. In addition, SAFEchild runs child protection seminars across the country for those wanting to explore the subject in more depth.

SAHARA FOR ALL (SFA) is a social based non-government, non profitable and non-political organization established in 2003 registered under IGR, Orissa number-Registered under 12AA 80G under commissioner of Income Tax, for the development of deprived and destitute people in the remote area of Orissa, one of the most backward state of India. Our approach focuses on integrated health system, literacy, community based programmes, sustainable livelihood. However it also addresses issue such as entrepreneurship development programme (EDP), health& sanitation, child rights, child labor issue, HIV/ AIDS SHGs development, prevention & drug addiction, rehabilitation and focuses particularly on women & child in all areas.

The Sir Alister Hardy Foundation for Ocean Science (SAHFOS) is an international charity that operates the Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) survey. The Foundation has been collecting data from the North Atlantic and the North Sea on biogeography and ecology of plankton since 1931. More recently, as the foundation has become more involved in international projects, work has been expanded to include other regions around the globe. The results of the survey are used by marine biologists scientific institutes and in environmental change studies across the world. The CPR team is based in Plymouth, England and consists of analysts, technicians, researchers and administrators, who all play an integral part in the running of the survey.
Sahjeevan

Sahjeevan was initiated as a response to the support needs being articulated by the rural women's movement that was being led by Kutch Mahila Vikas Sangathan in the early nineties in Kutch. Our approach is to bring trained professionals and rural experts together to analyze and understand their reality, access information and create knowledge to nurture and develop our natural resources to strengthen their livelihood security. We create viable models and encourage the state and the other stake holders to adopt these approaches on larger scale. We then provide regional planning, training and coordination support for larger implementation. We call these sectoral interventions 'Knowledge Centers'. Over the years five knowledge centers have been incubated and nurtured in Sahjeevan.

SAIDE, the South African Institute for Distance Education, is a non-governmental organization based in Johannesburg but conducting projects throughout South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. SAIDE’s task is to contribute to the development of new models of open and distance education practice, that accord with and take forward the values, principles, and goals of the evolving education systems in the Southern African region. It has also paid particular attention to the appropriate use of technology in education and most recently established a Kenya-based initiative, OER Africa, to promote the development and sharing of OER on the African continent.
Saidia Tanzania

SAIDIA Tanzania is a non-profit organisation based at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro, in the town of Moshi, Tanzania. Founded in early 2006, the Organization is made up of a network of people who share similar beliefs concerning the importance of sustainable development in our community. We connect international volunteers with local, grass-roots development organizations that need their skills and assistance. SAIDIA volunteers work with orphans and street children, environmental projects, health programs, organizational capacity building, and more! SAIDIA Tanzania uses an innovative and effective model of international volunteer involvement, placing volunteers within multiple existing community efforts. We work with a network of small, grass roots, Community Based Organizations (CBO’s) that have been selected by SAIDIA on merit, as well as an assessment of their financial and personal constraints. We have chosen community partners that we believe will truly benefit from the assistance of International volunteers.
Saint Boniface Haiti Foundation

The St. Boniface Haiti Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer organization founded in 1983 by the parishioners of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Quincy, Massachusetts. We are celebrating 25 years of serving the poorest of the poor in rural Haiti. In the ensuing years, the effort has grown from an immunization project to a full-service hospital in Fond des Blancs with over 100 employees, which is the only source of healthcare for a population of 250,000 rural poor over 107 square miles. Many walk 20 miles or more for care and in FY 2007-2008, approximately 50,000 patients were seen. In addition to the hospital and healthcare programs we have now expanded into education and community development initiatives.

Founded in 1818, it is the oldest university west of the Mississippi and the second oldest Jesuit university in the United States. Through teaching, research, health care and community service, Saint Louis University has provided one-of-a-kind education, leadership and service for 190 years. The Saint Louis Zoo has educated, entertained and earned a place in the hearts of St. Louisans for generations. With the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in 1904, there began a long and slow process to establish a zoological park. Sure enough, local pride in the giant elliptical bird cage led to formation of a St. Louis Zoological Society in 1910. The City of St. Louis set aside 77 acres in Forest Park for a zoo and named a Zoological Board of Control in 1913. State legislation provided that "the zoo shall be forever free," which has kept the Zoo accessible to millions of visitors ever since.

We are a Unique Muslim/Jewish Media Project in Bristol, South-West England. In 2007 we started out as a online radio station, producing daily radio shows. Now in 2011, Salaam Shalom Media has been re-launched as a Media Company/Project, focusing on Training, Podcasts, Webcasting and much much more. We're a place for discussion, a resource where people can give their opinions and raise the issues as they feel relevant. We’re here to support and encourage their dialogue, which we think is far more valuable than our making statements or releasing ‘official positions’ on anything. Our door’s always open and our microphones are always available to anyone who wants to contribute to Muslim and Jewish intercultural dialogue.

Salk Institute for Biological Studies

Dr. Jonas Salk, developer of the polio vaccine, established the Salk Institute for Biological Studies more than 40 years ago. His goal was to create an institute that would serve as a "crucible for creativity" to pursue questions about the basic principles of life. He wanted biologists and others to work together to explore the wider implications of their discoveries for the future of humanity. Today, the Salk Institute conducts its biological research under the guidance of 59 faculty investigators. It employs a scientific staff of more than 850, including visiting scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students. Our major areas of study are: Molecular Biology and Genetics; Neurosciences; and Plant Biology. Knowledge acquired in Salk laboratories provides new understanding and potential new therapies and treatments for a range of diseases—from cancer, AIDS and Alzheimer's disease, to cardiovascular disorders, anomalies of the brain and birth defects.

Since 1988 we have been dramatically changing the lives of over 400,000 rural poor in southern Tamil Nadu through our partner organisation Social Change and Development (SCAD). We support a wide range of education, health and community projects and promote sound environmental and sustainable practices. We are the principle funder of SCAD and have raised nearly £3 million pounds for the work they do in over 500 rural villages. We are an all volunteer charity and every penny we receive is sent to SCAD without any deductions.

The story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) gives a clear picture of God's desire for us to help those in desperate need wherever we find them. After describing how the Samaritan rescued a hurting man whom others had passed by, Jesus told His hearers, "Go and do likewise." For over 35 years, Samaritan's Purse has done our utmost to follow Christ's command by going to the aid of the world's poor, sick, and suffering. We are an effective means of reaching hurting people in countries around the world with food, medicine, and other assistance in the Name of Jesus Christ. This, in turn, earns us a hearing for the Gospel, the Good News of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
