People For Pets is an all volunteer, private, nonprofit shelter and rescue. We receive no government funding and are supported solely by private donations and adoption fees. At People For Pets many hours of work put in at the shelter is donated by volunteers who are also busy with full time jobs, family and home lives. Our volunteers come in many times a day to care for the dogs and cats and transport animals to veterinary visits, adoptions and rescue placements. Our volunteers also coordinate all paperwork, adoption applications, phone calls, inquiries, etc. as well as those fun tasks like scooping poop, cleaning and building maintenance.

For the past seven years the organisation has set about developing volunteer counselling guidelines that are aligned with international protocols and this has allowed the organisation to have one of the most established volunteer psycho-social programmes in the country. The buddy support network offers a “buddy” support network where cancer patients can interact with and receive advice and support from cancer survivors who have a similar profile, disease and treatment protocol.

People's Watch has similarly expanded its activities beyond human rights monitoring and reporting. Today, it pursues a holistic approach to championing human rights through everything from pursuing legal remedies on behalf of victims to sheltering victims in a rehabilitation center, to teaching future generations a human rights curriculum and building a citizen’s movement for Human Rights – of ALL RIGHTS for ALL PEOPLES. Monitoring, intervention and even winning compensation from the courts is not enough for those who had survived torture, abuse and imprisonment. They desperately need medical, psychological and vocational help as well. Preceding the United Nations Decade for Human Rights Education, People's Watch began a vigorous training and education program.

Childhood First is a charity that provides specialist therapeutic care, education and treatment to children suffering severe emotional and behavioural disturbance as the result of early life trauma. We also provide support to their networks of adult carers. Pesticide Action Network UK waorks to eliminate the use of hazardous pesticides, reduce dependence on pesticides and to increase the use of sustainable alternatives to chemical pest control in agriculture, urban areas, public health and homes and gardens.
