The Active Living Alliance for Canadians with a Disability (ALACD) promotes, supports and enables Canadians with disabilities to lead active, healthy lives. We provide nationally coordinated leadership, support, encouragement, promotion and information that facilitates healthy, active living opportunities for Canadians of all abilities across all settings and environments. We are an alliance of individuals, agencies and national associations that facilitates and coordinates partnerships among the members of its network.
Alaska Conservation Foundation

Founded in 1980, the Alaska Conservation Foundation (ACF) is the only public foundation dedicated to conservation in Alaska, connecting thousands of committed donors and businesses worldwide with more than a hundred grassroots conservation organizations in Alaska. ACF serves as funder and supportive resource for a diverse community of nonprofits working to protect and wisely manage Alaska’s natural resources. Over the last 30 years, ACF has awarded more than $29 million in grants to over 200 Alaskan organizations and individuals. ACF has been at the center of many successful environmental initiatives since its inception, including the long standing protection of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Today, ACF provides leadership and coordination expertise to Alaska’s most critical conservation issues.
Alaska Sealife Center

The Alaska SeaLife Center is a marine research facility in Seward that has Alaska's only public aquarium along with a rescue and rehabilitation facility for marine mammals and seabirds. While primarily dedicated to marine research, the Center is the only permanent facility permitted to rescue and rehabilitate marine mammals and birds, and has the only public aquarium in the state of Alaska. The Alaska SeaLife Center is dedicated to understanding and maintaining the integrity of the marine ecosystem of Alaska. We achieve our mission through research, rehabilitation, conservation, and public education.
Alaska Wilderness League

Alaska Wilderness League is a non-profit corporation founded in 1993 to further the protection of Alaska's amazing public lands. The League is the only Washington, D.C.-based environmental group devoted full-time to protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and other wilderness-quality lands in Alaska. Alaska Wilderness League works at the federal level on a variety of issues affecting Alaska's wild land and waters. Currently, the League is fighting to permanently protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as wilderness, promote the sustainable future of the Tongass National Forest, and check the unbalanced and potentially destructive development of Alaska’s Arctic waters and Western Arctic public land.

As the official fundraising body for the Alberta Children's Hospital, all money raised by the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation is re-invested in the hospital and child health needs in this region. Through the generosity of our donors we are able to provide funding for family centred child health programs, specialized life-saving equipment and advanced pediatric research and education at the Alberta Children's Hospital. Alberta Ecotrust Foundation is something of an art form. Conceived in 1991, Alberta Ecotrust is a unique partnership between the corporate sector and the environmental community. Together, we invest in the people and projects that help to make Alberta a stronger, more sustainable place to live, work and play. We achieve this goal through three main programs: environmental grant making, capacity building, and community collaboration. Together, we fund non-profit environmental projects, strengthen the ability of the voluntary sector to affect positive environmental change, and promote the environment as the foundation of a healthy community.

The Alberta Emerald Foundation was founded in 1991 through a partnership of McLennan Ross LLP, Deloitte & Touche Chartered Accountants and Alberta Environment. It has since come to be represented by a diverse group of individuals and organizations working to bring together government, private industry, non-government organizations and individuals. Through the nominations process for the Emerald Awards, the Alberta Emerald Foundation has accumulated a rich database of over 1,700 positive environmental stories. The Foundation knows that sharing these success stories will change behaviour and encourage others to participate, thus helping ensure all Albertans benefit from a healthier, environmentally secure future.

Alberta Food Banks, also known as the Alberta Food Bank Network Association (AFBNA) evaluates and researches programs to benefit Alberta food banks. These programs are initiated and supported by Alberta Food Banks to help its members in food and fundraising, and awareness efforts. Alberta Food Banks provides a wealth of resource material and acts as a communications pipeline for its members so that food banks can function efficiently and share ideas.
Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation

Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation (AIWC) is a registered charity and non-profit society that has been operating a wildlife hospital since 1993. We are located northwest of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and service Calgary, Southern Alberta and the Northwest Territories. IWC is managed by a team of wildlife biologists and wildlife technicians with a combined rehabilitation experience of over fifty years. They receive assistance from 5 volunteer veterinarians, and over 100 highly trained volunteers, many of whom are also biologists, animal health technologists, and certified rehabilitators. ur trauma centre is a donated church that was completely renovated to include a clinic, surgicial suite, x-ray room, developing room, and hospital cages for wildlife needing intensive care. There are also secondary care areas for patients needing more exercise and waterproofing as well as a unique brooder room for raising ducklings, goslings, and shorebirds. Outdoor enclosures include a large flight cage for raptors, a runway for flight conditioning of large avian species, five songbird houses, an ungulate pasture and corral, a deluxe waterfowl pen, and a large mammal enclosure that is suitable for digging and climbing mammals.

Alberta Wilderness Association (AWA) is the oldest wilderness conservation group in Alberta dedicated to the completion of a protected areas network and the conservation of wilderness throughout the province. Founded in 1965 in rural southwest Alberta by backcountry enthusiasts, ranchers and outfitters, the AWA has grown into a province wide organization. With more than four decades of success it is known for its tenacity, corporate memory and integrity. AWA is a non-profit, federally registered, charitable society. It has a provincial office and resource centre in Calgary and active members and volunteers throughout Alberta. The staff of the Association includes professionals and specialists in management, conservation biology, economics, education, outreach, communications and accounting. AWA’s outreach work is achieved through communication, education, conservation and advocacy and is supported through volunteers, member and donor programs, fundraising through grants, campaigns, and events and a planned giving program.

Alcohol Concern

We are a membership body working at a national level to influence alcohol policy and champion best practice locally. We support professionals and organisations by providing expertise, information and guidance. We are a challenging voice to the drinks industry and promote public awareness of alcohol issues. We are supported with funding from the Department of Health and also receive income from charitable grants, consultancy and training fees, and sales from our bookshop. Alcohol Concern also receives substantial and important income from membership fees. Alcohol Concern is a Registered Charity 291705. Company Limited by Guarantee, registered in London number 1908221.
Alcohol-Drug Education Service

Since it was founded in 1952, the Alcohol-Drug Education Service (A-DES) has delivered its message of education and prevention through programs in schools and communities. We give research-based information to help parents and teachers make it less likely that youth will turn to alcohol and other drugs for recreation or solutions to their problems.
Alderney Wildlife Trust

The Alderney Wildlife Trust evolved from the island's conservation volunteer organisation in 2002 to help manage and protect Alderney's diverse habitats from the threat of new development and large scale agricultural abandonment. Since then the Trust has expanded rapidly, with a growing number of dedicated members and volunteers both on and off island. The Trust's role within Alderney has also grown, with activities now ranging from environmental consultancy and implementing sustainable projects, to running surveys and species counts aswell as creating new wildlife havens.

For a child with severe disabilities, activities such as tying shoes, combing hair and eating with a fork can be a real challenge. But with the right individualized treatment program - one that includes intensive therapy, quality special education and round-the-clock, advanced medical and nursing care - those stumbling blocks can be turned into building blocks for a happier, healthier future. Our first home was established in 1982, and today Aleh is Israel's largest and most advanced network of residential facilities for children with severe disabilities. Approximately 650 severely disabled Jewish children receive top quality medical, educational and rehabilitative care at our branches in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, Gedera and the Negev. Aleh cares for children with medical conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy and Down syndrome, as well as genetic disorders, including Tay-Sachs, Canavan disease and Rett syndrome.
