Honeypot

Based in GBR United Kingdom
Children/Education

Since 1996 Honeypot has been working to enhance the lives of vulnerable children and young carers aged 5-12 years by providing respite breaks and on-going outreach support. We give young carers a break from demanding and stressful responsibilities at home and provide a safe, nurturing environment where children at risk can develop their full potential. Most of our children are young carers who juggle school and growing up with performing a surrogate adult role at home. Many care for a chronically or terminally ill loved one, or have a parent with drug, alcohol or mental health problems. This is where Honeypot comes in.

Hope Family Homes was founded by Heather Purser when she visited Kenya in 1996. This was the start of Hope Family Homes' first home, 'Bethlehem', based in Limuru 30 kilometers North of Nairobi. Of the children currently in care six have lost their parents to AIDS, three have been abandoned by their mothers, and the others have been referred by the local Social Services. Hope Family Homes has given them hope, a stable family environment and emotional support. The children in their care now have access to a good education, clean water and a healthy diet.

Hope for Vision

Based in USA United States
Research/Dev

Recent, groundbreaking successes in vision research – including the restoration of vision in human trials employing gene therapies and biotechnology prosthetics – give us hope that we can eradicate blinding diseases and their great costs. The sole limiting factor in delivering these treatments to the people who need them is the availability of research funding. Hope For Vision provides the tools necessary for people like you to come together to share our common interest in this cause and to work together to raise funds for this critical research. HFV is comprised of thousands of dedicated volunteers and vision advocates in Communities of Hope across the country, who raise funds through special events and other activities. Guided by its Board of Visionary Scientists, HFV then distributes over 90 percent of funds raised directly to researchers at leading medical institutions nationwide. Since 2005, HFV Communities of Hope have hosted over 30 events raising millions for sight-saving research.
