The Hesperian Foundation is a non-profit publisher of books and educational materials that help people take the lead in their own health care and organize to improve health conditions in their communities. Simply written, heavily illustrated, and developed in collaboration with groups around the world, our books contain a wealth of life-saving information on diagnosing and treating a broad range of health problems. We also offer translations of many of these titles in over 100 languages.
HETA

East Timor is among the world's 10 poorest nations and lies just one and half hour’s flight north of Darwin, Australia. It is also one of the world’s newest nations having won full independence in 2001 after more than 25 years of bitter fighting for freedom from Indonesia. Since January 2001 HETA (Hibiscus Coast East Timor Appeal) Trust has sent many teams to help the East Timorese rebuild their shattered homes, communities and lives. Some of the projects HETA has implemented are – water and sanitation in 3 villages that previously had insufficient clean water and no toilets; repair of a school and supplying materials; medical clinics; repairing villagers’ homes; and sponsoring just on 150 children to go to school. Heta's next projects include a community centre in the village of Laulora. This centre will provide room for a pre-school, a place for the villagers to hold meetings and training programmes, and a medical clinic. We are also providing much needed assistance to the local schools in that area.
Hextable Dance Trust Ltd

Hextable Dance is Kent's Dance Development Centre, co-ordinating and promoting dance performances, classes and education work from a new performing arts facility set in the grounds of Hextable School, near Swanley, in Kent. We have a 123 seat Theatre space, 2 Dance studios, Drama studio, Media suite, Recording studio and Meeting room.

The Haemophilia Foundation of New Zealand Inc. (HFNZ) was established in 1958 to serve the needs of people with haemophilia and other related bleeding disorders. It is a National Member Organisation of the World Federation of Haemophilia. We educate families, health professionals and other key stakeholders, while maintaining a high standard of treatment of haemophilia and related bleeding disorders throughout New Zealand.

HHRD was founded in 2005 upon the Islamic principle illustrated in the Gracious Quran: "They feed with food--despite their own desire for it-- the indigent, and the orphan and the captive (saying): ‘We feed you purely for the sake of God. We desire no reward from you, nor thankfulness." - Surah al-Insan 8-9. HHRD is a global humanitarian relief and development organization responding to human sufferings in emergency and disaster situations around the world. In addition to our emergency relief efforts in natural or man-made disasters, we also work on long term relief and development programs. HHRD was established to fulfill our responsibility towards humanity regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, class, location, religion, color, cultural diversity and social background, with a special focus in countries where the majority of the population lives below the poverty line.

Started in New York City by a group of Jewish immigrants who found sanctuary in the United States after fleeing persecution in Europe, HIAS offered food, shelter and other aid to countless new arrivals. Since its founding in 1881, HIAS has assisted more than four and a half million people in their quest for freedom. HIAS, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, has had an extraordinary impact on millions of Jews. For generation after generation, HIAS has provided essential lifesavin services to world Jewry, through its mission of rescue, reunion and resettlement. HIAS not only includes a worldwide staff of more than 100 employees and the 57 people who sit on our board of directors but also a support base of over 14,000 generous individuals. We all work together towards a common goal: rescue those in peril, reunite families in freedom, and enable newcomers to build new lives with hope and prosperity.

Hibiscus Children's Center aims to provide safety, shelter, prevention and recovery programs for children in St.Lucie, Martin, Indian River and Okeechobee Counties. Founded in 1985, Hibiscus Children’s Center is a not-for-profit charitable organization fighting child abuse with care, counselling, intervention – and your help. Hibiscus is nationally accredited through Council on Accreditation and is fully-licensed by Florida’s Department of Children and Families to serve families throughout the State of Florida. Through the incredible support of the community, Hibiscus Children's Center has been fighting the devastating cycle of child abuse and protects our greatest resource, our children.

Hidden Villa is a nonprofit educational organization that uses its organic farm, wilderness, and community to teach and provide opportunities to learn about the environment and social justice. We deliver a wide variety of relevant educational experiences that teach respect for the environment and for each other, and encourage program participation from diverse communities. We engage diverse voices of the community in the design, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of programs and services. We build alliances, internally and externally, between people, programs, and diverse communities to optimize resources and deepen our impact.
Hidden Voices
Women
Hidden Voices looks to strengthen the support structures within communities through outreach workshops, group, individual and creative therapies and training of counselors. Working with victims of domestic abuse, prostitutes and widows, our aim is to encourage peaceful co-existence and for those affected by abuse to rebuild a sense of self and trust in humanity. This will be done by increasing dialogue, cooperation through psychosocial healing, creative micro-finance initiatives and improved physical/social conditions and services to those in rural areas.
Hillcrest Aids Centre Trust

The Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust is a faith-based ministry that has grown to become a multi-faceted HIV/AIDS project. This ministry attempts to address the impact of the devastating HIV/AIDS pandemic in a practical and holistic way. HACT is a registered Trust and non-profit organization and all trustees are volunteers from the professional sector. The Trust has an external audit annually, and has earned itself a credible track record over the years for financial accountability.
Hillsdale College

Founded in 1844, Hillsdale College is an independent, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college with a student body of about 1,300. Its four-year curriculum leads to the bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree, and it is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Located in rural southern Michigan, the nearly 200-acre Hillsdale campus includes both modern and historic buildings. Excellent facilities include comfortable residence halls, subject-specific computer labs, a state-of-the-art health education and sports complex, Michael Alex Mossey Library with its Leighton-Taylor Wing, the Sage Center for the Arts, the Herbert Henry Dow Science Building, Howard Music Hall and two new classroom buildings–Kendall Hall and Lane Hall. Adjacent to the campus is the model primary and secondary school, Hillsdale Academy, whose comprehensive Reference Guide is used in hundreds of schools throughout the country.
Hilton Head Humane Association

The HHHA, serving Hilton Head, Bluffton, and Dafuskie, was incorporated in 1976. The first building had a capacity of 29 dogs and 15 cats. Today over 200 animals are cared for at the shelter, with more in foster care until they are ready to come back to the shelter for adoption. The HHHA is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization funded entirely by private donations, bequests, membership dues and fundraisers. No funding is received from any government agency or humane organization. The Hilton Head Town Council's strategic plan, announced in the summer of 2002, is for a "World Class Residential and Resort Community". The Hilton Head Humane Association supports this plan by playing a useful role that has a lasting benefit in the community.
Himalayan Animal Rescue Trust

Himalayan Animal Rescue Trust is based in Pokhara and is engaged in animal welfare work throughout Nepal. It was set up with the majority of the staff and co-founders of Himalayan Animal Rescue Team to expand outreach programmes and develop a care in the community strategy. We have a small clinic, operating theatre, storage room and a secure area for unloading dogs after early morning catching.

Himalayan Learning is a small charity working in Nepal that prides itself on using its grassroots background to deliver cheap and effective development. Education is vitally important as a tool to help people deal with both the effects of poverty and to work for themselves toward a better life. We to support girls and women to break out of the cycle of poverty and the related gender discrimination. As an educational charity, our first step is always to give communities access to school and to the benefits of education, but providing facilities is not enough - we also widen the types of people that have access to that education particularly in regards to women, ethnic minorities, and the disabled.
Himalayan Trust UK

The Himalayan Trust UK was created in 1989 to support Sir Edmund's work for the sherpas together with some additional projects for the hills people of Nepal where the need may be even greater. The results of his extraordinary efforts have been both moving and immensely beneficial, and resulted in the creation of many schools, hospitals, health centres and new forest plantations.

Hirda is a development and relief organisation that works with others to find lasting solutions to poverty and suffering in East Africa in particular in South central Somalia and North East Kenya. We want to raise community awareness in regarding to self-reliance, influencing decision-making process, ownership, democratization, strengthening civil society and improving the relation between the regions where HIRDA is active and surrounding regions, all this while alleviating poverty through small-scale food production programs which will lead access to food for every body. HIRDA envisions Horn of Africa in stable peace. Where communities live in harmony and benefit from appropriate health care, education, food and water security. Where boys and girls have equal access to quality basic education and parents are involved in their children’s education. The young generation is positive and idealistic and they are free to think and speak out.
Hispanic Federation

Established in 1990, the Hispanic Federation is a service-oriented membership organization that works with over 90 Latino health and human services agencies to promote the social, political and economic well-being of the Latino community. Each year, these agencies serve millions of the northeast region's most underprivileged and vulnerable Latinos. The Federation's member agencies work in the areas of education, health, elderly services, child care, HIV/AIDS, housing, immigrant services, arts and culture, and economic development. As an umbrella organization for Latino social service agencies, the Hispanic Federation recognizes the importance of organizing and coordinating across communities.
