We are ordinary people from across the world standing up for humanity and human rights. Our purpose is to protect individuals wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied. From a small group of volunteers in a tiny office in London, we have become the biggest and most trusted voluntary organisation in the world. Today we stand not only for prisoners of conscience but also prisoners of violence, and prisoners of poverty. We campaign on a wide range of human rights issues including: violence against women, arms trade, death penalty, advocating for an adequate standard of living for refugees, and dealing with the human rights issues surrounding terrorism and security. We have over 2.8 million members, supporters and subscribers in more than 150 countries and territories actively fighting for human rights. We also have over 7,800 local, youth, specialist and professional groups that meet in hundreds of communities across the world.
