More information
Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity was founded as the Roald Dahl Foundation in 1991. Since then we have given more than £7 million in funding to help children and young people with serious, rare blood or brain conditions and, until the end of 2008, literacy problems. We began in 1991 by creating the first ever Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist post, at Liverpool's Alder Hey Children's Hospital. Since then we have created an additional 45 Roald Dahl Specialist Paediatric Nursing posts in hospitals and charities throughout the UK, caring for young patients with Acquired Brain Injury, Epilepsy or Blood Disorders. As well as providing nurses, and working with partner organisations to provide services and support workers, we also provide direct help to families facing financial hardship when caring for a seriously ill child.
