More information
SCIAF is the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund, the official aid and international development charity of the Catholic Church in Scotland. SCIAF works in 16 countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America giving communities the tools, training and support they need to free themselves from poverty for good. We focus on three main issues: helping people to grow food and make a living; rebuilding lives that have been shattered by war; reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS and caring for people who have been affected by the virus. In Scotland, we are working to tackle the root causes of poverty and injustice. Unfair trade, debt and climate change all cause and sustain poverty. When disaster strikes, we work with local partners and with Caritas Internationalis (the world's largest network of aid and development agencies) to get help to those who need it – fast. As well as providing short-term, emergency supplies of food, water, shelter and medical care, we give communities the long-term support they need to help them recover, rebuild and get back on their feet.
