SBMA is an independent organization that works with the people of Uttarakhand Himalayas. In the activist tumult of the 1960's and 70's, the people of Garhwal, especially women, gave voice to their frustration against bad governance and superstition. APIL believes in evoking people's participation in the process of educational reforms to bring about accountability, equity and quality. APIL aims at creating an environment for better educational opportunities through local self-governance. It is a process of people's participation in whole educational reforms with right approach to accountable ownership, democratic decentralization and empowered governance.
