CARE International is one of the world’s three biggest aid agencies. We fight poverty and injustice in over 70 countries and help more than 57 million people each year to find routes out of poverty. With more than 60 years’ practical and hands-on experience, our programmes tackle the deep-seated root causes of poverty, not just the consequences. This often involves working across a range of areas where people's needs are very tangible - provision of clean water, health services and teacher-training, for example. But it can also involve helping people to be masters of their own situation - strengthening their ability to influence decision-makers or demand their rights to crucial services or resources.
