The Deaf Society of New South Wales was founded in 1913 in response to the needs of Deaf people who used sign language as their primary means of communication. The Deaf Society believes that Deaf people should enjoy the same political, civil and human rights as other members of the community and we work to secure these rights. We provide a range of support services, including services to those who may have additional needs due to vision impairment, cerebral palsy or developmental delay. Our major goals are to educate and support members of the Deaf Community to enable them to access relevant services and to educate the wider community on the needs of Deaf people.
