The outcry of Deaf people all over the world and for centuries is "We can do anything but hear, so treat us as normal beings". This outcry led to the establishment of the Institute for the Deaf in 1881 in Worcester, promoting the interests, human rights and well-being of Deaf people in South Africa. We are a non-profit, private dynamic organisation and currently the only facility in South Africa and Africa with a full continuum of services to Deaf people from the cradle to old age.
