Group B Strep Support
To offer information and support to families affected by group B Streptococcus; inform health professionals and individuals how most group B Strep infections in newborn babies can be prevented; and generate continued support for research into preventing group B Strep infections in newborn babies.
More information
Group B Strep Support formed in 1996, with just 3 members and one medical adviser. At Group B Strep Support, we believe that every woman should be informed about group B Strep and offered the opportunity to have a sensitive test to detect GBS carriage late in pregnancy. GBS is the most common cause of serious bacterial infections in newborn babies in the UK, causing septicaemia, meningitis and/or pneumonia.
