EXTERN Organisation
United Kingdom
| Community/Family
Extern's origins lie in the mid 1970's when a group of individuals with professional and personal interests in the criminal justice system came together to examine the possibility of developing new ways of working with offenders outside of the custodial system. In the early days we worked mostly with ex-offenders - we still do and are proud of our commitment to the most vulnerable adults in our community. Times have changed though and over the years the majority of our work is with children and families. Society and government now realises the importance of tackling exclusion and preventing young people getting on the treadmill of poverty, unemployment and crime.
