Founded in 1894, The Henry Doorly Zoo has evolved from its tiny local place in Omaha, NE into a renowned world-class tourist attraction and a leader in wildlife and wilderness education. Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo has four primary objectives: conservation, research, recreation, and education. In pursuing those objectives on a local, and now also regional, national and global scale, the Zoo provides exciting recreational opportunities that can also increase the visitors' knowledge of the natural world. The Henry Doorly Zoo not only preserves a wide range of species through its visitors facilities, but also shows them to the public.
