Founded by Robert A. Brown in 1982, FACT is supported by contributions and primarily works in two areas: on-farm research and advocacy. FACT was the first U.S. organization devoted exclusively to farm animal problems. As a result of our effective and sustained advocacy efforts, FACT has a close working relationship with the Food and Drug Administration, the US Department of Agriculture, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and with international committees that set standards for drug use and humane care of farm animals. Our on-farm research has given FACT extensive farming experience and firsthand knowledge. FACT then makes science-based recommendations to agricultural, public health, and environmental organizations and, especially, to federal regulatory agencies.
