CGRF supports the activities of Nyumbani in Kenya. Nyumbani, Swahili for "home," serves HIV infected children as well as their families through its Children’s Home, diagnostic laboratory, community outreach and village programs. The Children's Home houses 108 HIV+ abandoned children, with the community outreach program serving an additional 3,000 children through nutrition, clothing, medical care, and tuition assistance. Nyumbani also operates a diagnostic laboratory which provides specialized HIV testing services. The Nyumbani Village was initiated in 2006 in response to the middle generation in Kenya dying at an alarming rate leaving the elderly and children with no one to support them. The village is home to 1,000 AIDS affected children and seniors.
