The Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy is a Catholic Religious Women's Congregation. Catherine McAuley founded the Sisters of Mercy in 1831 in Dublin, Ireland. Her aim at that time was to 'care for the poor, sick and ignorant'. Today, 2,770 members follow in the footsteps of Catherine McAuley, in 10 countries. Many Irish Sisters of Mercy had gone to other countries to spread the Gospel and so, their countries of mission also became part of the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy. Today, our members live and work in the following countries - Brazil, Britain, British Columbia, Ireland, Kenya, Nigeria, Peru, South Africa, United States and Zambia.
